Achilla is a rather small, skinny girl for her age. Not malnourished by any means, but definitely skinny. She weighs a measly one-hundred and ten pounds and stands at just five feet and two inches. Many people mistake her for being younger than 16 because of her size, but the look of maturity beyond her years in her eyes gives usually corrects the doubters. Her eyes are what most people would call her most captivating feature. Achilla has very fierce, grey eyes that seem to pierce directly into your soul when she looks at you. Some people may even call her eyes un-nerving.

In addition to her small stature and piercing grey eyes, Achilla has dark brown hair that brings out her features in a striking way. Her hair extends down to just above her shoulders and curls ever so slightly at the ends, unless she straightens it out. Her skin is pale, made paler by her dark hair. Almost porcelain colored, and she doesn't tan well. Achilla burns rather than tans. But that doesn't bother her any. She'd rather be pasty white and pale than tan or falsely colored like the citizens of the capitol.

Achilla is what you would call a social recluse. She doesn't have any real friends and frankly, doesn't really want any. She has acquaintances, yes, but no true friends. And she's just fine with that. Once in a while Achilla can be seen with other people, but she keeps quiet when with them. Shelters her personal information and hiding herself from the world. Lately, however, Achilla has been wishing for one person to confide in, completely. Someone she can trust above all others. That person has yet to come into her life.

It's not as if Achilla was going about looking for a good friend, however. She is not the social butterfly by any means. Achilla is more the girl who will wait for someone to come to her and try to befriend her instead of going out looking for friends of her own accord. This comes from a severe lack of trust for most people in the human race and a lack of desire to allow herself to be hurt. Don't get her wrong, she would love to have a good friend, but she is simply not willing to try and find one.

Even though Achilla is usually a social recluse, cold and unfriendly: if someone rubs her the right way she can be your best friend. That person has to be very trustworthy, as Achilla does have problems trusting most people, but once that person gains her trust Achilla will do anything for said person. Anything short of volunteering to take their place in the hunger games of course. Achilla does have a selfish streak, and she is most concerned with preserving her own life above all else.

Achilla was born in the winter, in the middle of a snowstorm. Her parents were unable to make it to a hospital or doctor, so she was born in the comfort of the bathtub at home. Not that she cared. She doesn't remember it anyway. Although the way she entered the world could explain some of her personality. Her parents loved her instantly. Even though they knew they would never be able to provide her with everything and a completely safe life, they did the best they could. Her father worked constantly herding cattle to provide her mother and herself with food, while her mother was mostly a stay at home mom. True, she did perform odd jobs here and there, but most of the time she stayed home with Achilla. Teaching her basic math or reading; teaching her how to cook, clean and sew. Her mother was looking out for Achilla's future from the very start of her childhood. She learned how to do most of these tasks at an early age.

When Achilla reached the age where she could attend school, her parents enrolled her at once. She attended school during the day and came home to tend to the house at night. By this point, Achilla's mother had become somewhat distant. She had had 2 pregnancies that ended in miscarriage after having Achilla and had never fully recovered, leaving Achilla to tend to the house; cook and clean, and take care of herself. This continued for a year until she once again became pregnant. Achilla was eleven years old. She didn't fully understand what was happening, but when her mother went into labor early she knew something was wrong. There was nothing she could do, however. Her mother had a very difficult childbirth and lost a lot of blood, and with no doctor near the home she passed away. The baby didn't survive either. Achilla was home alone with her mother when this happened. When her father returned home that night and saw what had happened, he never fully recovered. He stopped going to work and lost his job, bringing on a new period of hardship to the family. Because of this, Achilla had to take up work on one of the farms in order to survive.

By the time Achilla turned sixteen, she had been working with the livestock for 5 years. Her father was still as useless as ever and didn't work, but at this point Achilla had lost all care and respect for her father. He had forced her out of her childhood, forced her to become an adult at eleven years old. She had to drop out of school in order to provide for herself and her father. She resented this fact, but there was nothing she could do. If anything, she was grateful. She had become self-sufficient at a young age, making her higher than her peers in her mind. Now, at 16, Achilla could provide for herself and garuntee her own survival.
