Scruffy, ragged and almost always covered in dirt. Benson is a very messy and clumsy individual. His clothes always hang off him, frequently two sizes too big, or not worn correctly. His glasses always worn wonky or broken. On first glance, he has the appearance of someone who is disorganized.

His hair is equally a mess. Long and brown, curly and greasy down to his neck. His complexion is a pale white with freckles. His frame is thin and raw, lacking any definitively visible muscles, despite this, he is surprisingly strong. Perhaps his small frame hides his strength. Benson is short for his age, and looks scrawny in comparison to the many Careers of his district.

Benson can be found wearing a black t-shirt of some description, accompanied by a desert yellow jacket and brown work-slacks. These are usually tagged with big black boots that are tightly tied to his feet with laces. From time to time, he carries a big black rucksack to store supplies.

Benson is somewhat feeble. He is a very withdrawn and shy person, not often one to be seen making conversation. Socializing isn't a favorite pastime of his, as he'd much prefer to be left at home, working. His withdrawn personality means that he does not have a large amount of friends, and the ones he does have, he doesn't see often. Perhaps this is why Benson is a very lonely child, but Benson has always been lonely, and he doesn't mind.

So long as he is occupied with working, Benson will be rather happy in his tiny, insignificant life. His father runs a metalwork factory, meaning he and his family are very wealthy indeed. Benson likes to be involved with the business behind the scenes, operating the computer systems and such. His father lets him, as it keeps him happy. Plus, he is somewhat a wiz at computers.

Benson is especially shy around girls. Having never had a girlfriend, he tries to avoid conversation with any female, as he often ends up embarrassing himself.

Whilst Benson may look and act feeble and weak, plus his key skill being computers, it is not uncommon that he is seen as an underdog, or a weakling among the Careers of District 3. Yet many are mistaken. Benson is a master tactician. His planning skills are renowned. His ability to calculate and foresee events have left him high up in his father's company.

Born the second and last child of the Altchringham family. His mother and father always overlooked him as the smaller, shyer child. His older brother Kingston was always more athletic and outgoing. It wasn't until Benson was ten that his parents started giving him due attention.

At ten, he was able to use the computer programs that his father used at work with no problems. His father saw this as an opportunity to keep his son busy, and so employed him as computing staff. His job was monotonous and easy. It consisted of clicking and typing up stock reports.

By the age of twelve he had been upgraded to a technician in the computing department, in charge of shipping orders and such. By this time, many employees resented him, and knew he was only in this position because of his father. It was true, no child would have be given this job, even if a child could do this stupid task, but because he was an Altchringham, he had the position.

At fifteen he was working stocks for his father, running the system and fixing bugs and errors. He was ahead of his father at this age, able to do things on the computer that he could not. Showing all the promise of a very good future employee. His father knew that his son would run the business in due years.

Meanwhile, Kingston was showing all the promise of a failed son. Having tried being a teenage Career, he failed to be picked in the reaping and at the age of nineteen found his options very much limited. Who would want a failed Career as an employee? He did manage to get some floor work at his father's company, lifting boxes and such.

This kept Benson quietly smug. His oh-so superior brother was now at the bottom of the food chain, whilst he was on the rise.
