Chiyo is a tall woman standing at 5ft 8inches. She has a slim frame weighing in at 131 pounds. She is not very muscular despite the years in training to be a career. Her skin is tanned and smooth except for her hands where the skin has been slightly weathered in training.

She has brown eyes that give an aura of happiness. Her face is well proportioned with dark brown eyebrows and light pink lips. She has thick, sleek ebony coloured hair that reaches to between her shoulders and waist. When she is working or dancing she will wear it in a low ponytail to keep it out of her face.

Coming from a wealthier disrtict of Panem, she has more choice on her outfits than others. She will usually wear a white, black or rouge blouse with a long black or rouge skirt. The woman will wear short socks that are either white or the colour of the blouse she is wearing. These are usually hidden by a pair of black shoes. For special occaisions she will wear a garnet dress with matching sandals that are worn without socks. When she is in this outfit her hair will be neatly tied up into a bun.

Chiyo is a cheerful character who likes to brighten up a room, greeting the people she meets with a smile. This can draw back many in her district who keep to themselves but the ones who like to socialise are friendly with her. She has a hands on approach to life and her personal motto is 'when it comes to doing things, it is always possible'. Chiyo can be seen helping around the district.

Since she was young, Chiyo has always had a passion for music. She sings well and loves dancing, often doing both for her friends. The woman found the music calmed her when she was in career training. Even now she finds it comforting to listen to her best friend play the guitar while she sings and dances. She has an eye for precision due to her current work with jewellery in her store.

The woman is very much a neat freak and will admit it herself. She can be seen tidying around her when people have left places dirty or untidy. It is one of the things that can spark a temper in her along with violence and bullies. She has formed a hate for violence over the years. She would not fight those in her district but even if she wanted to she is not physically strong even after all the years.

Chiyo Utane was born on December 12th in district 1 to two loving parents. She was born an only child so apart from playing with a parents she had a lonely life growing from baby to toddler. Her parents taught her to be cheerful and appreciate the good things that happened in life, which was not many in district 1. She quickly grew into a little 5 year old ready for her first day at school by order of the Capitol.

Not long after she had started school, Chiyo discovered her passion for music and she was quick to join the choir and dance club in her school, even performing on stage in her last year in her first school. Soon however, she graduated from her first school and was of the age where she was to start training as a career in the Hunger Games. During this time she found music helped her to try and forget seeing people her own age run at each other with weapons intent on grabbing glory when they became older.

When she was 11, she saw a new girl in her school who looked slightly older than her. She looked annoyed and sad so Chiyo went over in an attempt to cheer her up. That girl was none other than Layla Vasquez, who had been transferred to the district from the Capitol. Although she didn't exactly love the Capitol she could see why Layla missed her old home.

The two of them quickly bonded. The biggest connection between the two was music as Layla was good at playing guitar and could compose music. The two of them would make music together in their spare time. Chiyo was always quiet when it came to reaping day, hoping that the name pulled out wouldn't be her own. However, her final reaping passes without her being picked as a tribute.

Since becoming an adult, Chiyo has opened a jewellery store for her creations. She greets the customers in the store with a smile. The woman earns a decent amount from her custom as those in the Capitol can never have too much jewellery on them. However, she still looks forward to meeting with her best friend Layla and listening to her play guitar while she sings and dances.
