Quara is very tall, but very thin and almost frail looking, with fair skin. She's not extraordinarily pretty, but she has striking red hair and bright blue eyes with a light smattering of freckles across her nose and cheeks. She is usually smiling, and almost always sporting some array of bruises and cuts on her face, arms, legs, everywhere visible and not visible. Her curly mane tends to be tied back with a thin leather strap. She avoids skirts and flowy shirts, usually sticking to sturdy pants and t-shirts or sweatshirts.

She's not very...asset-ed, if you know what I mean, and has an almost malnourished look in her eyes. She's very skinny, just a tiny slip of a girl, with long arms, long hair, long legs, long everything. Her nose looks like it's been broken more than once, and a couple of her teeth are chipped, and none of them are the normal white you'd see in a district one child.

She usually wears leather or string bracelets around her wrists to conceal a thin scar on each wrist, faded, but still there. All over her body are scars of different shapes and sizes, from various items, ragged edged ones, clean cut ones, new ones, old ones, all there.

Quara acts happy around most people, putting forth a strong facade. She's very reserved, not very quick to anger, patient, avoids angering others. She's very forgiving, and quite understanding when it comes to helping other people. She hates to see other people in pain.

To most people she meets, she seems like she is a bright, happy person, no matter how bad things are at home. She refuses to let anyone see how badly she gets hurt, or how awful things are, because she's afraid they'll get hurt because of her. Thus, she's very closed off about her personal life, doesn't answer many questions about it because she doesn't lie. Because she doesn't tell people much about herself, she doesn't get very close to people, instead staying aback, making 'friends' mostly for her own, or their own benefit, but growing distant if things get too personal. This means that nobody really knows her, and she likes it that way, that way, nobody else gets hurt.

She's easily startled, very jumpy, and usually on edge because of all that's been done to her. She doesn't like being snuck up on, so anytime someone comes up behind her without her noticing, she's likely to jump or flinch or run away. She doesn't trust people very easily, because all of the people she trusted early on in life turned on her and hurt her in some way.

Being so careful and cautious makes Quara extremely paranoid. A drop of a pencil in class makes her flinch away as if hit, at lunch she sits quietly in her own corner of a lunch table, eyes focused on a book, shutting everyone else out. Anyone who touches her, by merely brushing against her accidentally, or trying to be comforting is met with a small yelp and Quara skidding backwards from the contact with a scared look in her eye.

Quara has one older sister (Quim) and one older brother (Olhado). Her older sister died in the games many years ago, after getting knocked up and publicly humiliated. When Quara was born, her parents were hoping for a boy, because they despised girls thanks to her sister. So, when she turned four, her parents took her into the bathroom, turned on the bathtub, sat her in it so the water would wash away the blood, and slit her wrists. Luckily for her, she didn't die then, though her wrists still bear the thin scars as remembrance to them. Because of this, her parents were "tried" and executed for the attempted murder of a three year old, leaving her to the care of her brother.

Her brother, Olhado, with a circle of his friends now punish her for the loss of his parents. All the friends drink, and beat her, rape her, do many horrible things to her. And now, her parents are dead and there's nobody to stop them, even Quara herself isn't strong enough. She gets food by begging in the markets, picking it from the berries growing within the fence boundaries, once in a while darting underneath to take enough food to stay alive, since her brother does not usually feed her anything edible.

She is extraordinarily good when it comes to herbs, because she found this old, old bound book of herbs her sister had created before she died. Thus, anytime someone gets hurt, she's there, handing them a pain reliever or something to heal them. She can climb trees well, because that's the best way to get away from her brother and his friends. She is a vegetarian due to an incident with a whole lot of raw meat and her, thanks to Olhado's methods of...torture, and she's been sworn to hating meat since then.

She never, ever tells a lie, no matter the circumstances. She might twist the truth a little bit, but never outright lie.
