Smell of Blood in The Air (Nadene and Zuka vs York

Zuka couldn't help but let out a loud cry of pain as the sword slashed deep into her back, causing her to stumble forwards. She managed to soften the fall by holding out her hands as they made contact with the ground.

Blood leaked from the deep wound, staining the back of her t-shirt, leaving it soaked with the red liquid. Pain filled her immediatly, along with anger and frustration towards York. Why had she been the only one he attacked? Nadene didn't even have a scratch on her!

Zuka reached back as she kneeled on the ground, placing her palm hardly on the wound. A low groan of pain escaped her, barely audible over the sound of fighting infront of her. Despite the layer of clothing, her hand was already damp with her own blood.

Her vision flickered before her as she watched the fight proceed without her. She managed to see the final blow that ended it all and sucked the life away from the boy. Zuka watched as blood spilled from the wound, covering the already soaked ground that only consisted of her and York's blood.

Zuka finally forced herself to sit upright, just in time to hear Nadene yelling that she was sorry. "Shut the hell up Nadene!" she yelled, energy draining out of her with each word "take pride in your killing" she said firmly, though her voice shook from the pain that flowed through her.

Despite the pain, there was some happiness.. or joy in what had happened. She hadn't died, but she was close to it. Yes, maybe at the beginning she had tried to kill herself, but now she was clinging to her last strands of life. The sight of York on the ground made her realize how her own body would look lifeless. No one would care, for she had been a bitch in the world, and never cared for anyone but herself. She was cold and ruthless, and love had never found her.

Zuka slowly managed to stand from her painful sitting position. A quiet hiss escaped through her parted mouth as all of her wounds screamed in protest. She knew that her time was draining away, and death was awaiting her probably in the next games day. She could tell from the blood that flowed freely from her wounds, staining the layer of clothing around her.

It took a while for her to notice that Nadene had finally stopped yelling. Zuka breathed a sigh of relief, though the small act was shaky and weak. Her cold gaze watched as her ally took the sword from the dead boy's side. She nodded and slowly approached the backpack that he had laying beside him, digging through it weakly until she grabbed something that might come in handy. It was Fishing Wire. She actually didn't know if it would do anything for her, but you never knew in these cruel games.

Zuka threw it carelessly into her brown satchel, slinging it back over her shoulder where it was before the fight started. She glanced at Nadene silently, not saying a word to her ally. There was no compliments or words of comfort for the girl, for those things never came easily from the cold-hearted girl. But, there was one thing that had changed this games day... Zuka actually had pity and care hidden deeply beneath the layer of cruelty and madness. It was shown when York had pleaded for them to let him live, which was obviously not granted.

"Come on Nadene" she said, turning around from the gruesome scene. Without waiting to see if the girl had begun to follow her, she began to walk away. Slow steps were all that she could manage, for her infected thigh and gashed back were causing the greatest discomfort.

The sun that was now beginning to set was still casting large amounts of sun and heat on her, causing more sweat to drip down her until she was completely soaked. The dry earth cracked beneath her shoes, the way it had before the fight began.

Wow Zuka... why'd you let the other girl kill the boy? You could have had your second kill! You disgust me. Stop complaining to me about your stupid wounds, and actually do something about them. Whatever, you're hopeless.

Zuka closed her eyes in annoyance, clenching her teeth together, doing her best to ignore them. She tried not to argue back, which she did frequently, causing many unwanted gazes to lay on her. Although they had been louder in the past few days, she had been trying to shut them out completely (failing miserably) and make them something that she could make come when needed.
