The Front Room (Masquerade Plot)

When he had heard of the Masquerade party being held at some fancy mansion in the better part of District 1, Rolex had scoffed at the idea. It was a party, he didn't belong there, he was not exactly the most social person and he preferred not to deal with a large group of people. However, as time went on he found he was actually considering going. And now he found himself standing in the Front Room of the mansion, wearing a crisp light green button up shirt, black trousers and a black tweed jacket. It was rich garb, but he had managed to scrounge enough money up to afford it. It may be nice to have for future occasions, in case he ever went to some formal affair or got married. He had bought a mask for the occasion, as he would not be allowed in without one. It was a simple black mask which only covered the top-half of his face, making his green eyes stand out even more. Perhaps he was dressed a little too formal, not colourful or flashy enough. But maybe that would make his dress even more noticeable. It might even make him seem mysterious. He was skeptical of that, but you never know. Dark clothing hid more that it revealed, making the person wearing it seem to be someone to remember, or try to figure out. I am someone to remember, he thought, eyes carefully taking in his surroundings as he began to enter the house, just for my swordsmanship, not sitting pretty at a party. No, Rolex wasn't exactly the party type.

As he moved further into the mansion, he saw that the entire building was an exquisite work of art. The wooden stairs with their elegantly carved banisters, the marble floors and vaulted ceilings, it was magnificent. And insanely expensive. Whoever lived here had money to spare, and obviously didn't care about the general populace. But enough of that, I may as well meet the people here.

Bringing his attention back to the scene in front of him, Rolex noticed a boy standing with two girls, a ferret on his shoulders. A ferret huh, they were not a common pet. Then again, pets weren't all that common either, unless they produced some kind of sell-able item. Calmly, he made his way over to the three people, keeping his bright green eyes from lingering on any face in particular, even the ferret's. When he reached them, he saw that they seemed to be having a conversation of some kind, and thought about leaving them to it. He could always go to another area and see if anyone else was here. No, he would wait and see if they noticed him. If they didn't, then he would move to another location. No point blowing someone off because he was impatient, he was here to socialize, so he may as well socialize.
