Come on in, the Water's Fine!{OPEN}

As I stand there, waiting for her first move, I see her pick something up. Oh not a sword. Please, please don’t let it be a sword. But from how she stuffs it into her pocket I know that it has to be small, so I breathe a sigh of relief. We just stand there, staring, for minutes on end before she makes her move. Then a knife materialises in my chest out of a flourish of movement. Throwing knives? Two can play at that game. I remember using them last time, but I never got such a clean shot as this girl did. I’m a sitting duck here.

The pain begins to swell through my nerves and into my mind, and I let a short cry escape my lips. I think about taking it out, but I can’t afford to lose any more blood from a gaping wound. My hand grips my axe tightly, a solid piece of reality to cling to as I sway on my feet, eyes closed. When I open them the pain is still ringing through me, but I have more control. Her aim would be spectacular if I wasn’t just standing metres away, and even now the blade isn’t near my heart. But still, that natural use of a weapon. Someone has to open their mouth first; it might as well be me. “So, you’re a Career? Typical.”

And a chest wound, also typical, I note as I speak. I take a trembling step forward, but I don’t trip. My foot lands firmly, snugly, on the ground, the sole of my shoe moulding to the uneven shape of the floor. I take a deep breath of air and take a swing, eager to do better for myself this time around. I can’t do any worse, surely?

I witnessed digits and limbs being cut off in the last battle, but I never inflicted such things myself. I jump back, repulsed by myself, but then remember the knife and searing pain in my chest. I can't exactly smile about the situation, but at least now we're relatively even in terms of injuries. "There, now we're even. Grab a stick to balance on if you want, I won't hit you until you're happy to be." I slump against the near side of the tree I previously hid behind, admittedly a smug look on my face. I have standards; I won't kick someone when they're down, not after what I went through earlier this year.

(OOC: In a way, you were kinda lucky - 1 number off an insta! If one of those pop up do you just want to call it 10 damage?)

Ali ran, tears spilling over her delicate, small, innocent face. She didn't know where she was going or when she might slow down, but she didn't care. She just wanted to get away. She wanted to get away from the sadness, the pity, the anger, her dumb*** parents, and most of all the vulnerability. She HATED the vulnerability SO FREAKING MUCH. Sobbing, she slammed her head into a tree branch. She screamed and fell on her back, grasping her head. Still sobbing, now her sadness mixed with pain, she yelled out, not caring who heard it, "Damn it all to hell!"

Suddenly she felt someone slap her across the face. She gasped, stopping her sobbing, shocked, and looked around wondering who did it. She suddenly realized that she did it. She glared at her left hand. She was a strange kid. She knew this. How couldn't she? She was born with the mind of someone much older than her. She was a child genius. But it came with a price. She loved, craved, needed pain and death. The right part of her brain, the part that was, say, "normal", screamed at her that it was wrong, it was deranged. But the left side of her brain, the dominant part, only focused on survival. It made her crave pain, made her do whatever it took to stay alive, and when she was weak, vulnerable, it snapped her out of it. Just like it just had when out of the blue she slapped herself. Ali no longer used the right side of her brain unless she really needed to. She was what the left part of her brain had made her. A genius 12 year old who loved blood, pain, death. And who showed no mercy.

To anyone.

Ali knew she needed some way to get this pain, the thing that was making her weak, out of her. With it, she'd just keep crying like a helpless three year old. She glared at herself, cursing at herself for screaming swears into the night when anyone could be around. And that's when she heard it. A voice nearby. It was the voice of a person who was much older than her. But she was talking to someone.

Ali immediately knew that the other girl must be mute, since the voice she had heard was obviously talking to someone but no one was answering. The voice also had a cocky, arrogant tone. At that moment, Ali knew the smart thing to do would be to pretend she was some helpless kid to one of them but show who she really was to the other. Then they would try and kill each other, one of them trying to protect her and the other trying to kill her. And then, when one of them was dead and the other weakened, Ali could kill them easily.

But she decided not to.

Ali was done being protected, done being treated like a 12 year old, even though she was one. Inside she was so much older. But nobody understood. So now she decided that she would show these two idiots exactly who she was. She would disturb them with her lust for pain and grin when they looked at her like she was crazy, fear in their eyes. Shuddering with joy, she licked her lips. She took out her knife she always carried on her belt and grinned.

She ran and burst her way into the clearing where the girls were fighting. She grinned, holding the knife, ready to attack, to cut with that sharp, cold blade she was already trained to use. She whispered in a deranged, dangerous tone, "Ready for some real fun? Because I am." She hoped this tone would intimidate them highly. She wanted to see the look in her eyes. The look everyone gave her. The look that so clearly said, "This girl has serious brain problems." Or maybe, "Oh great, that psycho kid is coming my way." Or perhaps, "Oh no, that insane child, Ali, is heading towards me. I hope to god she doesn't do anything to me." If one of them were from her district. Because everyone knew Ali. The child with the dangerous glint in her eyes, the child who's so small and has no muscle but can scare of an 18 year just by bearing into them with her cold, gray eyes. No one wanted to know Ali, but everyone did just the same. If one of the girls were from district 2, tey'd definitely know her.

Ali grinned dangerously, loving this, every moment of it, needing the pain the other girls would give to her. She saw a girl without a leg and thought to herself, No, that's too easy. And then she diverted her attention to the other girl. It must have been the one that could talk because she had an arrogant look to her, just like her voice. Ali smiled. She was pretty arrogant herself. They would be good competitors. She ran at the girl, her knife glinting in the moonlight, mouth set in a straight determined line, her eyes joyful, ready for blood.

Ali grinned as with a clean slice the knife cut through the girl's hand and her thumb fell off. Ali grabbed it before it hit the ground and she held it up to the girl tauntingly. She licked the blood of her knife blade and shivered in delight. It tasted...wonderful. She grinned at the girl devilishly and said tauntingly and quietly, but with a playful note to it as of she was just a child playing a game, "Got your thumb!" I watch as a girl much younger than me and my opponent swoops down through the forest, ready to prey on us. She says something, but I can't make it out. I watch her run towards us, and for an instant, I'm honestly scared. This girl looks psychotic. She won't care that I can't speak or that I'm missing half of one of my legs. It looks likes she's coming for me, and I close my eyes, awaiting my death. I know I should try to scramble, but maybe she doesn't see me. If I try to leave, she could easily run over to me and stab me to death. I wait for what seems like eternity, hearing the leaves rustle as the girl gets closer and closer, when I hear the sound began to fade away.

I watch the girl approach my original opponent. I don't think she expected this. She thought this little girl would attack me, finish me off first. The little girl, emotionless, slices the girl's thumb off. My eyes bug out for the umpteenth time, and I can feel bile rising in my throat. The girl raises the severed thumb, bringing it too close to her mouth. Please, please don't be a cannibal.

The girl licks the blood from her knife, and I know my food won't stay down much longer. Anything I had in my stomach comes up at once. I retch for what seems like eternity. This girl is insane! I know I must team up with the girl who was originally my enemy. I can't bear to see this little psycho drink anymore blood.

I watch my now ally slice a small cut in our enemy's left hip. I smirk even though it's not that much. I know I must go back the way I came. I don't want to risk throwing a knife, I might miss. I could land a nice hit like I did on my ally, but I feel unsure. I begin crawling towards the two with my branches and knives. I swivel behind the trees, so that I can sneak up on them.

I finally reach the two, silently crawling behind their backs. I grasp my smaller branch in my right hand, ready to write. I find a patch of dirt close to my ally. Perfect. I swirl the message into it.

I don't expect her to tell me her district or name yet. All I need to know is if we're a team for now. I leave the twig next to the mud in case she decides to write instead of speak. I crawl over to the younger girl, approaching her from the back. I take a swing at her with my knife. I miss, and I instantly regret not throwing my knife. I know now I need to put some distance between us. Enough to keep an alliance with the other girl, but enough to keep away from the younger girl. I scramble back towards the spot of mud, fuming. I put the knife down next to the mud and grab a new one from my band of knives. This one feels lucky, feels more firm, than the other knife.

Dakota Cornoli

Dakota heard a loud commotion. He was 14 now and more responsible. He was sprinting and sprinting kicking up a storm as he was rushing to the scene. He crashed through a couple of trees to see a fight. By the looks one girl was down and the others were hurting her. That beautiful girl was lying on the floor and Dakota couldnt take it no more

He watched as the knife slashed her calf. He ran up to Marina and ripped his shirt off wrapping it around her leg he helped her up to stand on one leg. "lets kill em" He said as he took her hand and kissed it. I can't believe what's happening. I thought the small girl would attack me, but she goes for the other girl once again. She stabs her in the stomach, blood pouring out. I know she won't make it for long. I watch as the young girl licks blood once again, and I almost vomit again. The only problem is that there's nothing to come up. I hear the insane one talking to what I hope is my ally. She's offering to be her ally, too.

What is this girl's problem? Stabbing the other girl and then trying to partner up with her like nothing happened? The girl doesn't try to conceal her voice, and anger rises up in me. She must think I'm deaf! I know it's true when she calls me the "deaf chick." Just because I wrote a message in the dirt doesn't mean I can't hear. I wish I could scream right now; I wish I could tell her I'm not deaf and to shut up. I grab my knife, ready to throw it at her, when a boy swoops down, running straight towards us. I drop the knife and curl up in a ball, waiting for death once again.

I know I have found an ally when he stabs the older girl, causing more blood to spew. I know if I can get just one more good hit on her, she'll be a goner. I don't think I can do it though. I was the one who started the fighting, not her. I want to kill this crazy young girl and then let the three of us go home and live our lives like nothing happened.

The boy rips his shirt off and wraps it around my leg that has damaged. I'm so grateful for this. He helps me stand up before kissing my hand. He says something, but I only catch the word kill. My heart is pounding so loud that I can barely hear my own breath. Suddenly, the young girl attacks me, cutting me in my chest. I know that if the two other girls ally, I can be dead in an instant. I know I have to kill the weaker one for my survival. Wouldn't she rather have me kill her than the girl who cut off her thumb and drank her blood? I can only hope so.

I walk towards the weak girl, a frown on my face. I mouth the words I'm so sorry, and plunge my knife into her. I know my attack must be enough, for she slowly slips out of the world. She looks so innocent with her eyes closed, blood pouring from her. I feel so bad for hurting her. I'm not she if she fainted from blood loss or if I actually killed her, but it hurts my heart all the same. I know I have to leave her some love, even some that means nothing. I have no feelings towards the girl, but I kiss her forehead anyways. She's gone now, out of the fight. She might survive, but she can't put up a fight anymore.

I know the younger girl must be mad, so I quickly hobble back over to the boy who might as well just saved my life. I want to know his name, his district. I want to know why he chose me to save. I almost fall over in my attempt to reach him. I wrap my arms around him, trying to keep my balance up. I have a loose grip around his waist so that he'll be able to attack this crazy girl who seeks to destroy us.

Hearing the scrawny girl's remark about this stranger being my boyfriend makes me instantly release my grasp on my "savior", which causes me to fall to the ground. She takes advantage of my fall by barely slicing my bicep. She tells to me to scream, which makes me grin. A grin is the closest to a laugh for me.

Why would I scream when she barely scraped my arm? I roll my eyes at the thought and slowly push myself up. I put all my weight on my good leg and scowl. I won't go crawling back to the boy for support. Sure, I'm still grateful for his help, and yes, I consider him my ally. I'm not about to let my only hope be a stranger. I can rely on myself.

I grab my knife and swing at the little girl, hoping my cut is more deep than the one she just landed on me. I'm wrong, though, for my cut is the exact same as hers. Only on the other bicep. I hope the boy contributes with a better attack.
