Almar Nichols - District 12

Almar is tall, about 6'0, with very short black hair and a tan complexion. He isn't necessarily buff, but he isn't skinny or fat either. He is just naturally a big guy. He has very small eyes, and ironically enough, he has very bad vision. His arms are large, although his muscles are not defined. He does not work out.

He has always been proud of his apperance. He may be a bit vain, but sometimes it's hard not to be when you're surrounded by dirty starving peers. He isn't rich by any means, after all his house is only 3 rooms. But, he doesn't really struggle for food. He is one of the few healthy kids in District 12.

No matter how much he tries to hide it, the first impression that everyone gets from Almar is that he is arrogant. Which he is. But, he tries to stay humble. There are plenty of things that Almar is not good at. But, he is a bit more wealthy than most of the kids at school, he is extremely smart, and fairly athletic as well.

Almar's favorite thing to do is math. He absolutely loves math. In District 12, most people don't really take school seriously. However, he despises living his life as a miner. He wants to open up a small clinic to treat the sick miners and the starving people.

Almar doesn't have very many friends. He doesn't really want any. He prefers chilling out at his house by himself, studying and watching the Games. He definitely loves watching the Games. He owns the tapes of every Games that he can remember. Sometimes, he wonders if his love for the Games is wrong. He wonders if he is bloodthirsty, and if he wants to kill. And even if he does want to kill, he's okay with that.

Almar's keeps his history locked away. He doesn't want his classmates to judge him. They do not know that both of his biological parents died when he was a toddler. They also don't know that he was suicidal until he was fourteen for that very reason. He has not had the easiest life.

When he was 4 years old, both of his parents were murdered after they were mistaken for two criminals by a Peacekeeper. He watched the whole event. Shortly after, he was adopted by his neighbors, who were his parents best friends and his godparents. They were also just as wealthy as his parents were, and he was very fortunate he kept the life that he had with his parents, although it would never be the same.

His entire life, until he was 14, he struggled with suicidal tendencies from the one event that changed his life forever, his parents' death. He tried killing himself on many occasions, resulting every time in failure, often very painfully. On his 14th birthday, he decided that it needed to stop. He bought pills that were rumored to be anti-depressants. They worked. And he still takes them today.
