Ari Newton [D11]

Appearance:Ari is an average looking boy for a District 11 citizen. He's skinny and malnourished which is not surprising, considering he comes from a family that doesn't have much food. However he can work outside for a while. He's not really that tanned considering he doesn't work outside for a very long time, he coudl bt he doesn't since his brother is the main provider for the family. He mostly stays at home with his mother and father while his brother works. As a result he isn't very strong either unfortunately, not really able to lift that much weight. He can lift some things but things such as heavy sacks of flower he can't really lift.

He has messy black hair, it's medium length that doesn't even go up to his neck. His hair is mostly swept to the right, however he never really does anything to keep his hair neat, he doesn't care about his appearance that much considering where he lives. He has a strong jawline. One thing that is noticeable is that he is beginning to get acne. He has the red spots appearing on his forehead first but it's going to spread down to his face. He's only a teenager so it's natural but he's embarrassed about it. But there's nothing he can do to hide it unfortunately.

He has brown eyes and clean teeth. it's not hard to keep your teeth clean when you can't afford any sweets. He's about 5'6 so he's not very tall but he's sort of tall when compared to most kids his age. He doesn't really wear rich clothes and rarely eats anything size able. Most of his clothes are second hand from his big brother.

Personality: He has his own unique personality, like everyone else he is different and that's what makes him unique. The first thing noticeable about him is his love of music, he plays the guitar, he plays and practices almost everyday. He saw someone throw theirs out and he managed to steal it from the street and bring it home. Ever since then hes been practicing with it and he likes music now, he likes listening to people sing, play their own music and even playing it himself. He's pretty good at it now. Now he plays for different purposes. It can be either to impress someone or simply play for fun.

He cares about his family. His whole family, his mother can't work so his father and brother mostly have to do the work for the family. He's mostly at home. He isn't 'lazy' but he isn't exactly hard working either, unless it's music of course because he just managed to find someone who threw out their guitar However he wishes there was something he could do to help out the family. However there isn't so all he can do mostly is despair, his father and brother mostly go out and do all the work which he feels terrible about.

One thing someone may notice is that he's not like his brother who is usually loud and rebellious. He's quieter and mostly keeps himself to himself. Although he does play music he isn't much of a speaker. In fact he's more scared of getting in trouble and the peacekeepers whipping him. He's always upset when his brother comes home with many wounds on his back, he's seen his brother tied to that stump and being whipped within an inch of his life time and time again. He worries that one day it will be even worse than his brother being whipped. He's more submissive than his brother, he's used to his brother sticking up for him.

He's not a fighter and he never has been. He usually has his brother fight his battles for him because he doesn't like to fight. Someone threatens him? get his brother. Someone wants to beat him up? Get his brother. That's all he knows how to do. He's scared to get into direct things on his own. He isn't a go out and fight guy. He's more of a stay home, look after his mother while entertaining himself kind of guy.

History:"Practice makes perfect..."
That's what he told himself as he grew older and he tried to achieve goals that were hard to achieve. He was born into an already very poor family. They barely managed to hold on. Just to support them his brother had to start working in the farms as well. It was truly difficult but he managed to keep himself out of trouble and safe. In District 11 you had to do those things if you wanted to keep on the peacekeeper's good side you see. Ari just minded his own business and never did anything to piss people off, it worked.

When he was around ten and he was in the streets he walked past a house, it was a pretty wealthy house. The guy who lived there was throwing out a guitar that he made himself, he was wasting such a good instrument! Ari always wanted a guitar. So when no one was looking he simply took it from the street and ran with it, no one knew he took it, no one noticed him take it. He just took it home and started playing. It took him a while to become good with it but eventually he did it. He made his own songs with the guitar and got better and better, practicing all day with his mother until he became better.

It didn't take long but he did become better. As he grew older he ha dto stay at home while his brother and his father worked. A lot of the time his brother was whipped without mercy but his brother still went back for more. It hurt Ari to see his brother like that, Ari had never been whipped in his life but his brother had been whipped so many times since Ari could remember. It worried him. Ari mostly lives his life in fear of peacekeepers and reaping and as he gets older he's closer to freedom but still his chances increase. He just tries to work on his music and get better.
