Lunch time is called and honestly my hopes aren't very high. I just find using the weapons so difficult and they seem so weird, I don't feel like I have a chance, so honestly when I go to get lunch I'm feeling pretty depressed, ~~I'm also worried I might throw up again~~ there's so many stations that I need to learn in only two days! I leave the station I was at and decide to go with the other tributes to get some lunch. My face looks sad, alone, my hands are just dug in my pockets and I'm walking slowly, behind all the other tributes getting their lunch.

When I see the Capitol food my spirits are slightly raised, it's a million times better than anything I could eat in District ten. After years of starving, just barely scraping by with what little food we had and that Capitol has stuff like this. I guess if I wasn't feeling down I would be pretty infuriated with the unfairness of life. That's basically my entire life in a nut shell, unfair. So I get my food on my plate and put it on the beautiful tray. I guess this is the Capitol's way of treating us before we die our horrifying deaths. Well this isn't really much of a consolation. I don't want to sound ungrateful but it's true. No matter how much good and expensive food I eat the end result will be the same. I'll be laying down in a coffin ten feet under in eternal sleep.

I take my tray and sit down on a table, all alone. Story of my life, twig boy is sitting all alone and upset because he's too much of a wimp to talk to anyone. I'm so damn lonely.

Weapons clashing with others, hands pounding into dummies as others train leaving me alone. The weapons make me sick. I don't want to train because it's cruel. I don't want to be forced to fight against the others, but I don't have a choice. I'm already making a fool of myself. Maybe it'll allow people to target someone else because I'm not a fighter. I'll be easy to remove later. I drop the knife from my hand when lunch is called. Lunch will be much better than training. I haven't met anyone worth talking to yet, and I need to, but I can't allow myself to get drawn too close.

I walk into the dining hall as I stand in awe at the insane amount of food that has been placed before us. I grab a plate and fill it with as much food as I can. I've never been lucky to have this much food when I was home. I always had to share, and the little bit of food I had would never be enough to satisfy the hunger that grew inside of me. I look at all the tables quickly before my eyes stop on a table. A lonely boy sitting there away from everyone else. I want to sit alone away from everyone, but it looks like he could use someone to talk to. I place my plate on the table and sit across from him. "H-h-hello."

I'm just idly sitting there, using my fork to pick at my food and occasionally put some food in my mouth and then I see a boy sit opposite me. I seemt o recall him from his reaping tape, I remember he's from District nine but I can't seem to remember his name. I look up at him, kind of surprised by someone actually wanting to sit with me, after all I'm the kid who threw up on his district partner and escort at the reaping. I'm just the little twig kid, nothing more nothing less. Despite how harsh it sounds it's just the truth.

"Oh erm hi. W-what's your name?" I ask him with a slight smile, someone actually wants to talk to me. Maybe for once I won't be all alone.

The fork turns slightly in my hand as I stare at the food in front of me. It just doesn't seem possible to have this much food sitting on a plate. The food sitting before me would be enough to feed my entire family many times. It blows my mind away. "Oh erm hi. W-what's your name?" [/a091ae]I don't understand why he'd talk to me. I did sit in front of him. Maybe he's nice?

It amazes me. I don't know why I want to be talking to people when they are planning how to kill me. I'm alone. I have no one to help me, but I'm afraid of getting to close to anyone. "I'm Storm Jay." I look back at the food in front of me. "What's your name?" I ask trying to keep a conversation going. I've never been good at talking to people, but I need to try. I just need to not get attached.

Storm Jay, I know that name from somewhere, as I think for a second I recognize that name, I recognize the name Jay. Jabber Jay, he was in the sixty-fourth games, last year when I was twelve, my first year my name was in the bowl and I was relived to not me picked. Jabber Jay died first, that powerhouse alliance who won the wealth all ganged up on him and then another fourteen year old mercilessly killed him. This must be his relative, that must be sad, watching a relative die in the games only to be the next one to add to the body count. It's unfair how this whole system works isn't it? A flicker of recognition shows across my face only to be suppressed, I figure it's still a tender spot and he doesn't want to talk about it.

I hate being here. I wish I was back home with my family, but I doubt it's going to happen. I'm eating lunch at the Capitol with twenty-three others. Twenty-three of us will die. I'm going to die. His name sounds so cool. A smile spreads across my face. "Hey Mantel. Yeah I'm from district nine. It's uh, nice to meet you." I hold out a hand wondering if he'll shake it or leave me hanging. I shouldn't be shaking hands with anyone because they want me dead. I look down at my food as I take a bite. It taste good, but I don't feel like eating. I don't want to be here. I'm going to die just like Jabber.
