There was something about being in pain that frustrated Zinnia Yaren. She had been hurt all her life, had been in pain for several years because of her father, and yet it wasn't really the fact that she was hurting that ever upset her. It was more so the fact that the pain severely limited what she could do that bothered her the most. Back in District One she would stay away from other people for days to hide her bruises or avoid criticism. She couldn't go out and run around, she couldn't have fun. It was the same here, except she had no choice. Her injuries would make it extremely difficult to fight, and yet she had to fight for her life. She knew that time would come, when she would have to stand up and fight even if she knew her past injuries could, no, would become worse, if they did not end up actually killing her.

That was where the Feast items came into play. It was ironic really, that she had to go into the fight to attempt to gain an item, and all that she gained from that fight was medicine to heal the injuries that were caused by the fight. She hadn't even gotten the medicine, that was her allies' doing; she fled because if she didn't, she would have died. It felt wimpy in her eyes, to flee instead of fighting till the last second until her death, but the other alliance was still intact. They would have to fight that alliance one way or another, and if she was dead, her allies would not have the advantage in numbers. If she could not live, one of the two had to win. There wasn't an option. They had worked so hard to get where they were, fought so much, that it would be shameful not to win.

Holding the Capitol-created medicine in hand, Zinnia didn't hesitate to use all of it to heal herself as much as possible. It is what her allies had agreed on, once they had met up. Seeing as she was obviously the most injured, the medicine would benefit to her the most. In turn, Arbor got the leg armor and Ailia got the helmet to protect her head. It was a lucky thing that they had gotten three items instead of two, otherwise they might have argued over them and someone might have been killed. Zinnia knew that they could not all live, it was how the Games worked. She would not be prepared to die, neither would she be prepared to see either of her allies killed. At the same time she had no dreams of winning, so surely it would be herself that would die, no matter how much it scared her.

Trudging through the cold snow, she felt much better. She felt more ready for whatever was to come, even if some of her cuts and bruises were still hurting her. Surely now, she had the same amount of damage, if not less, then either of the two in the other alliance. She wasn't quite as weak anymore, nor would her injuries weigh her down quite as much. Without the medicine it would be almost without a doubt that she would be killed. Now, however, she had a flicker of hope. If they had to fight (and she was very sure that they would have to, with so few tributes left), she had the chance of surviving. Not an amazing chance, but it was a chance. Once again, it would all come down to luck.

Zinnia's head snapped up away from where she was looking towards the snow when she heard a noise. It was almost impossible to hide the sound of movement on the ground because of the heavy amounts of snow, but was it just her imagination? Maybe she was paranoid, maybe she had confused her allies' footsteps and dreamed that it was an enemy. Just to be sure, she lifted up her hand to stop the others and spoke. "Shh, I think I hear something.." She said to them uncertainly, pausing to listen some more. There it was. The gentle crunch of footsteps against the snow was unmistakable; someone was coming towards them. The sound was getting louder with each second, so whoever it was wasn't far away. When she listened closer she heard not one pair of footsteps, but two. It was the other alliance.

Then she could see them, not far away. Visibility was slightly reduced, which is most likely why she hadn't seen them before she had heard them. It was the alliance that had targeted them at the Feast, the alliance that had targeted her and set their eyes on hurting her. She shivered uneasily as she looked back at her two alliance members. "It's the girl and the boy, the ones we had fought at the Feast." Maybe they would just leave, maybe she wouldn't have to fight them. Maybe no one had to die.

Yeah, right.
