He holds nothing back.
This isn't for anyone but himself, he's a soldier on his own and he knows the way out of this hell; the little bird is only a stepping stone now. Maybe back in Four she might have been something else - a friend, a competitor, someone he's comfortable with or just someone in the distant horizon they'll never know now. But here he's reaching up to the outstretched hands because he wants his life as a living memory, as one who won't forget even when all others do. And he wants to live to chuck Zeus into the ocean to 'cool him off', to test the waters with Finnegan, to drag Damian out into brighter light and keep him there.
Wants to wrap his arms around his little brother and say, "I'm alright."
Because he can be.
The sword in his hand drips red that swirls to pink in the water at his feet; endless cycles, spinning round to slip off the edges of the wagon and mix with water further below. Leon knows it, and it's thirsty - it wants more.
He'll give it whatever it wants because he wants the same.
She sings.
Leon could have laughed out loud, because isn't it obvious now? The little bird sings because that's what little birds do - but her song is without words. It's lacking, even with her voice pitched into a scream of... of whatever she feels as she tries to strike him down. Leon pulls his arm back before the axe can connect deeply, but instead of dancing away Leon presses closer to her this time, trapping their weapons between them. He purrs the words forming in his mind to her tune:
You've got to choose a direction
and when the moment is right for you,
you've got to go.
It's barely a minute, barely thirty seconds, barely even ten - and then Leon's gone, slipped aside before Siren can move or push him back. He dodges back out of her reach, his mind thrumming with the need to survive all of this, and he feels every drop of rain against his skin when he leaps.
The sword slashes down in a swooping arc.
