My dad was always into some really weird stuff; I mean, they were kinda cool I guess - old pendants, books with fancy words, you know. Those type of things. He collects them for some gang thing he's apart of, but I never really questioned him or his affiliates since back then I trusted him with a lot more than I'd take for granted of him now. Don't get me wrong, when I was a kid he was pretty cool, always telling me stories of his works and how one day I'd be in charge (I never wanted to be the leader either, I'm not sure if he ever knew that) and he taught me some tips about poetry that my mother taught him. Just, I wished he payed more attention to what I said back then instead of picking up every other word.

Anyways, about this gang, it's a small little affiliation, calls themselves something I can't say unless I want a one-way ticket to some broken knuckles. Throughout my eighteen years of living, I've heard a lot of them from my dad - mostly just how great a leader I'd be for it and that I was the heir. Mostly they're just into some drug empire, and it's almost insulting to have my dad telling me I'd be a perfect fit for them, but deeper below their operations they're into the same things my dad always brought home. I'm not sure exactly what of course, I've only seen one of their operations because my dad forced me into tagging along with him and I spent the entire time counting the church floor boards - they always meet up in pretty desolate locations from what I can tell: churches, empty buildings, right past the forest's line.

Most of this I only know from my dad, and in all honesty I don't want the gang. I'd be cool to have a gang and all, but I've always been a more independent type of person - it came in the same genes that brought my monster thighs, black hair and pointy chin. I'm not sure if I'd be a good leader either; out of all my talents people have never been one of them. If I really wanted to lead them, I could of course, I could lead them right into a ditch.

And probably get myself killed too.

In a weird way, I still my dad cared a little though, through all this pressure and all; even with all his plenty faults that match mine in a criss-cross. I still live in this really tiny house with him too, though I might as well live alone considering he's never around. It's pretty cool all in all, since I never have to worry about him over hearing me or this lame poetry bizz that I'm not too great at.

It's something my mother loved though, poetry, and besides the stories my dad used to tell me about how we had the same perky nose and big ears I never really her. I bet she'd love me. She wasn't in the gang or anything, she just fell in love and that was her sin, I guess; love in this world is a strange thing, and I know a few things about strange. Trust, love, faith, they're all great in theory but really, none of them work past giving people some type of hope for a better day. You're stuck with the cards you are given, and the sooner you realize that the better off you are.

Cards are a lot like genes, because in the same sense I got nearly six feet and bad hygiene, I got a guitar and Sunny, respectfully. I sweat easily, dad always said it was because I didn't do much activity-wise before he got really invested with his gang thing, but in a way it's not that bad. It's sort of like a self-defense mechanism; I'm pretty sure it's the same thing with Sunny, with her perks and balances. She's wicked smart, too much for her own good sometimes, and she can be hung on herself easily, and I'd never trust her red strands with my life, and a lot of the time I'd be better off without her.

But I think I like having her around, and I think it'll get me killed too.

She's not the type of girl who's into gangs, that much I can tell about her, and I'm not either I think. If I ever did be forced into some bloodline leadership, I'd have to do it right, that's something I know. Maybe it'd be an easy thing, just some simple moderation here and there and I could go back to fries and sleeping and more money than I'd need.

Maybe that whole gang thing wouldn't be too bad.
