BOXING: ROUND 2

Welcome to the Boxing event of the second Panem Olympic Games! The boxing rings are located within the Olympic Arena, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the starting block, and remember, make your district proud!

The boxing event is a tournament, which follows a bracket. Each match will occur on this thread. Feel free to roleplay your character boxing their opponent and then paste the code [*roll range="1-7"] without the asterisk into your post THREE TIMES and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. These numbers are added up to determine the winner of each match.

The competitor who scores higher than their opponent moves on to the next round, which will be posted on a new thread. As the boxers post, the winners will be recorded here; when all the first round matches have been completed, the bracket will be updated and the next round will start.

I'm still sore over yesterday's fight. The kid put up one hell of a good fight and I'm still thinking of finding her later, to see what District she's from and ask if she's interested in attending Brawl. I really had to work to beat her and it isn't because I'm terrible either. She was just that good. I came away from the fight yesterday feeling happy and worked.

Today however, it seems I'm up against someone a little bit more my equal. This Brody guy, I heard he wasn't a regular person. Something about him, some rumors flying about last night that he wasn't just a regular citizen. I don't have anything against Peacekeepers myself if he really is one. I understand why they are needed. I just hate the asshole ones who shove their weight around just because they can. Specifically to my kind of people, seeing as I tend to hang out with the less privileged crowd.

Well whoever this guy is, it's my soul intention to enjoy myself. I'm not really in it to win it, I just love a good fight is all. I don't waste my time with cat calls or riling up the crowd, it isn't what I'm here for. I simply raise my gloves when the ref says it's alright and I prepare myself for his onslaught.

When the bell rings, my heart jumps forward, ahead of me as it always does and I let my fists fly.

One... Two... Three... Drop To Your Knees

The smell of sweat and the sound of pain that was the boxing area for these Olympics had slowly began to grow on Xander. It reminded him of his training center back home, with you know slightly less blood. Xander had become a little celebrity here ever since he defeated his first opponent. As much as Xander loved having his name on the lips of so many Capitolites, he refused to allow it to go to his head. One match going south is all it took to leave Xander out of the competition and a chance at winning the gold medal. Today just as he had done yesterday Xander would have to fight with a viciousness two times his own size. Yet, he also knew he would yet again have to use his strengths, like speed and agility to his advantage. Fighting was the most unpredictable thing in the world, any day a famed fighter could be knocked down by an unexpected turn of events. This Xander knew, and in a way he also knew that fighting was like its own philosophy. What he ment by this, is that you must not be too aggressive and at the same time one must not be too passive. Fighting was all about having the perfect balance of those two things and also by having good prediction skills. If your reflexes are slow then you can count yourself out already.

As soon as the bell rang to state that his match was going to start soon Xander tuned into the way his opponent moved. Even now before the first punches are thrown can one really learn key things about their opponents. Once they were both in the ring the bell really started the fight and Xander watched closly. Everything hung on this match, this was a tournament which ment every fight was the equivalent of a Hunger Games Finale. No one would care about the runner up when they can have the victor. Xander was going to make sure that it was him who left this ring standing tall, he had to. "Let the fun begin" Xander said to his opponent with a sutble wink then he waited for his chance to attack. When that time came he lunged forward towards his opponent.

The match I had yesterday was a close one, and I knew it. I felt really proud when I finally beat him, but I was also scared, since I nearly lost. Then again, I'm used to it.

I got a good nights sleep, and checked the roster in the morning. First match again? Lets get this over with. It was another one from District 2. Why so many District 2ers? They must get lucky.

I enter the arena only to find a peacekeeper looking dude. What the fuck. I thought this was for careers, not peacekeepers. Upon futher inspection, he was about my age, just really stern looking. I push that aside and get ready to fight. The bell rings, and I fly myself towards him, punching with all my strength.

Brody was on a roll.

He had a feeling that it was the combination of winning his previous match in boxing, but also the adrenaline rush of moving into the third round of wrestling competing for a medal. Here, he still had to face a few more opponents before he could be guaranteed to bring home something tangible.

Not that Brody intended to keep his medals if he won them. Sure, the Peacekeepers would probably ask them, but he knew his Lieutenant wouldn't put up a fight when he insisted on giving them to his father; without his training, Brody knew he wouldn't be here right now.

His opponent, a tall-looking kid by the name of Haleon, doesn't waste time bolstering the crowd with displays of strength or confidence; he beats his fists together to indicate to the referee (and to Brody) that he's ready to fight. Brody smirked, doing the same as his own name was called.

Straight down to business then.

There was the bell.

He had made it through the first round, of course he had, and was now up against a new opponent. Though he was one of the smallest competitors, he was also one of the quickest. After holding his own against his brothers for so many years, it was no surprise to him that he was able to beat a boy larger than he was. There was another boy around his age and it seemed they had both triumphed and so moved on. Part of him hoped he wouldn't have to face his fellow small fry, but another part wanted it so he could prove he was still better. That was a thing for later though, because right now he was up against someone else. That was no problem though, he was small, he was fast, he was witty, and he was going to win.

Another day and another round of boxing. As he had expected, he had crushed his opponent in the first round and was now setting his sights on Quincy Maul. His round two opponent was from district one, and as everyone in panem knew, when it came to district one, only the female tributes were dangerous. Thus, Carver expected this fight to end faster than round one. Bouncing on his heels, he slammed his fists together again and again as he waited for the bell to ding. When it did, he flew across the ring with his fists aiming for Quincy's head, briefly wondering what it would be like to kill his opponent bare-handed.

Lionel Boyse learned with violence. Everything that he had absorbed over the years was thanks to violence. It was the rage of hitting his brothers that taught him that sucker punches only bring on more beatings. It was the sheer fury that made him lunge at his father that taught him to respect his elders. And it was the fight against Elliot Swallow-Birch that taught him that the prestigious birches were not as proper as they seemed. He had beat Elliot by the skin on his teeth and it was now time to beat another.

This time it was a boy from District 1, (Ross? Russ? Ralph? He didn't know.) Rex. Lionel can't even pretend to know this boy's weakness, because to be honest he didn't pay any attention to his match. In all honesty, Lionel had expected the kid from District 1 to go down in the first match. Now, here he was proving Lionel wrong, and causing him a slight headache. Lionel felt a small bubble of anger brewing within him. It was time for this kid to be put in his place, and Lionel ready to beat him to the ground.

When the anger finally bubbled up, and over flowed within him, Lionel knew that it would be the boy learning the lesson. Not him.

After the near disaster that was the first round, you make sure to set your alarm more carefully this time. Your second round is a calm morning drinking coffee before a light meal, making your way to the stadium with your gloves swinging against your hip. People recognize your shock of curly hair and bump you on the shoulder as you stride by, the familiar glint of anticipation making the green of your eyes dark and vibrant. (Some call it a killer's gaze, and you're not going to argue with them.)

Your second opponent is a child. He barely reaches your shoulder, and his face is overly confident for someone with a distinct disadvantage. Wrapping your hands is done slowly, methodically, but no matter how calmly you go about your pre-fight routine, the thrill that shoots through you as the lights of the stadium scatters on your shoulders is always explosive. You're starting to wonder if this is where you belong.
