The train journey to the Capitol could'a been easier to say the least. The stress of the train, between all of us, Jordan and everyone, Mace and Saffron, was stifling. Throw on top me, a 12 year old with two completely different personalities, who you have no idea which one you get. Not the best situation to be honest. And then thrown into a room with people who's mental statuses are shady at best. 'It's the training session's,' we were told. 'It's a chance to improve your skills before the arena.' And the sight of such able killers from all the higher district's are daunting, or even scary. But, as it seems, as the youngest tribute, I don't want to look weak to everyone else. And I walk over to the first aid section, completely quiet, except the tutor there. Some peace and quiet, I think. For the first time in the days so far.

The train ride was horrific, that horrible boy, staring into my soul, taunting my emotions. I never understood what I possibly could of done to piss him off to that extent. I don't believe his corruption had anything to do with me, He was broken long before I met him. Its sad to think someone so loony was entering the games, he hardly stands a chance. I cant wait until he lays his eyes on some real competition. When I reach the Training Center, I notice many large males and females. All of which had toned bodies, and cat like reflexes. I was intimidated, perhaps this games wont be exactly like I had thought. I scope the room, fire starting seems like an eligible skill, no matter the terrain im thrown into. I see a short class being taught on the safety's of fire starting, and just fire starting in general. I decide that that would be a good place for me to perch, at least for a while. I watch as the instructor first teaches us how to use a piece of flint and a rock, but very few of us will be lucky enough to get our hands on one of those. He then goes on to show us how to start a fire with much more common items. Two twigs for example, if rubbed together fast enough, and with enough force, you can create smoke, and in tern a fire. I continue to take in my surroundings, not to far from me I notice the first aid training. There was a girl, she must of been no older then 13, she was miniscule. Tiny compared to the worlds around her. It sickens me to think that the capitol could so easily throw such an underdeveloped being into this kind of barbaric experience. If she were to enter that arena alone, she would have no chance. It wasn't far for her to have such a huge disadvantage right out of the gate. As I stare longer at this girl, I grow attached. She was pristine, adorable. She was nothing like my rowdy asshole of a younger brother, but she was innocent. Blinded by the factor of purity. I was determined to give this little girl a chance. Sure making her my ally may give me a disadvantage, but she needed someone. She had to have family at home that would want her to be protected, I was going to become her guardian, her paladin in a field of many. I make my way closer to her, trying to catch her attention. My attempts failed, and so I inched closer. "So, what does someone as young as you know about medicine"? I say jokingly.

Again the girl talks, watching me intently. If it was anywhere apart from the training center prior to the Hunger Games, it would be called stalking, I swear. She opens her mouth, no doubt a laugh hidden somewhere nearby. I like her for some reason; I feel safe with her, safer than I felt on this trip. "I'm Mystic, District 9. How are you liking this whole thing so far, its gotta be rough for someone of your size, huh?" Ah, District 9. I have to admit, it surprises me, considering the reaping with her district partner. He was completely crazy, in my opinion. "It's strange," I reply. "It's hard to imagine in a couple of day's time, that I'll be fighting for my life. And people who are double my size will be after me. Does it matter? Nope. I'll be the agile one." And I smile at her, feeling better than when I talk to Saffron about the same thing. She'll look after me, I'll know it.

She was fragile, I felt guilty looking into her eyes for to long. I felt as if the world around her was just waiting to pounce. Waiting to feast on the mind of an innocent child. I couldn't let the world do that to her, revoke her of the right to being a simple soul. I watched her intently, never letting my gaze stray. She would not be subject to one of these assholes. "More than you, I can assume?" she says. She had a little bit on her, I liked that. That meant she was able to defend herself, or at least verbally. I look over at her and laugh, it was adoring, watching her get all flustered. "I'm Bree by the way. District 10." she bumbles. "I'm Mystic, District 9. How are you liking this whole thing so far, its gotta be rough for someone of your size, huh?" I ask.
