Thinking about life hasn't ever been easy. For the most part I've watched people move around training like it's their last day of life, and little do they know it is. Twenty-three of us will die. One will survive. What's the odds? Thinking about it there's a 95% chance of death. 95% chance my life will end, but there's a 5% chance my feet will stand on the stage I've seen previous victor stand on. 5% chance I'll journey through the districts pretending I cared about the families. Pretending I cared for them when in all reality nobody matters. Not a single person here does.

Nobody.

It's a new day. Another day of training, but instead of making my way through the training center looking for a new weapon to hold onto, I sit at table with a ton of food in front of myself. It's made me sick. Eating every last bite, but it must be done. Making sure my stomach's full before going into the arena. Out of every game I've watched I noticed how little everyone eats, but people drink quickly. Drinking enough to survive the games. Who knows when any amount of food will end up inside. Those damn toxic plants seem like a good idea.

Finishing my first plate of food, I've decided to go back for seconds. This time I pile the plate full of sweets. Cakes, cookies, chocolates, and I feel a cup full of this dark chocolate stuff. It's a drink. Steam rolls from the top of it, and for once I feel excited. Feel happy. Father wouldn't ever approve of me drinking this much, but he's not here. He's not standing around me beating me down with his words, yet I can't shake them. Not now. Not ever.

You're worthless, Chaske. You're worthless.

Carefully balancing the plate and the cup, my jaw clenches shut as my eyes narrow. It's never been easy being here. Talking to these tributes. Learning about them. Watching them train. It's disgusting, yet I can't wait to feast on their bones, their blood. Soon their blood will turn into my own blood. It'll run through my veins because they'll be dead, and I'll be alive. In the end that's all that matters. Survival. If these stupid low life victors won the game, there isn't a damn thing stopping me.

Sitting down back at the table, I knock the cup full of chocolate drink over spilling it everywhere. A large grin spreads across my face. My teeth bare and for a moment it's like I'm a rabid animal. Someone that needs to die. To be put to sleep, and laughter escapes from my lips. Who cares if someone gets mad at me. I fucking dare them.

We dare them.

As sick as this place is I have to admit, this food is mouth watering.

Take the sweets for example - I only have sweets about once a year, that's it. But here there's a whole load of sweet things; cookies, chocolate, hot liquid chocolate, chocolate milk, banana milk, vanilla milk, all sorts of things. To think that every tribute has gotten to try all these variations of mouth watering foods before they died. Mantel would've loved this, I know he would've. I try to push the thoughts of Mantel out of my head - it'll distract me from all the delicious food that's makes my mouth water even just looking at it. Especially the sweet stuff, those are the absolute best of the best.

I start piling food after food on my plate, even more so than I did yesterday when I had a grey cloud over my head. It ain't just sweets I pile on there either, it's all kinds of food: bread, meat, vegetables. While someone might look at me and call me weak I ain't gonna act all high and mighty because to be completely honest, I ain't high above this food. I've never seen most of this food in my life and this is my one and only chance. I don't care what anyone says; I will eat and eat.

After I finish putting all the food I can on my plate I add on some chocolate milk just to finish it off. I take my tray of food and starts finding somewhere to sit.

But while I'm wading through I see something that doesn't please me in tinniest bit.

Some stupid tribute went and spilt all his hot chocolate liquid, right all over the table. I can't help but stare as the brown liquid runs off the table and begins dripping onto the floor like chocolate rain droplets. What the actual fuck? I can tell just by looking this kid ain't rich, and here he comes wasting all the delicious foods and drinks. Me and Mantel only could've dreamed about seeing this and some cow pie for brains just goes and spills it like that? And to make it worse he actually has the guts to have a laugh about it??!!

Well fuck that.

I stride over and place my tray opposite him, staring him in the eye.

"Now why in Ripred's name would you go and do that? That's some top of the range drink right there wasted! You stupid or something?" I ask him. I don't care about being polite - we're gonna be at each other's throats in a few days anyway.

Drip. Drip. Drip. Excitement grows inside my chest little by little. My eyes widen as I watch the drops of chocolate run off the table onto the floor. Staining everything in it's path, and now the floor is flooding with it. Perhaps I could've tasted that drink before wasting it. My feet plant firmly on the ground, and I'm about to stand up when some guy slams his tray down in front of me. I cock my head towards the side before shifting my gaze in his direction. My eyes take in as much as I can.

Before I can say anything, he starts yelling at me. "Now why in Ripred's name would you go and do that? That's some top of the range drink right there wasted! You stupid or something?"

The grin on my face goes away, and everything is blank. I don't fucking know this kid. In all my time here, I haven't talked to him. Seen him. I haven't done anything at all, and he thinks he can fucking yell at me? He's fucking stupid. My tongue runs along the front of my teeth as a small chuckle escapes my lips. Some nerve he has. Or he's just a fucking retard. And I prefer to think of the later.

Caring about the stuff the Capitol has doesn't please me. Nothing because it's stupid. And the longer I stare at this kid the angrier I become. My blood boils inside my veins. Heat rises inside my face. My cheeks burning bright red.

Father yelled at me all the time. He said I was stupid. Foolish. Worthless. Each word this kid yells brings forth a new being lurking inside of me. The puppet master begs to control the world. Begs to get lose and break free on this kid. He's pleading inside my head with every passing second. Perhaps wasting such a beautiful drink was dumb, but it's just a fucking drink. That's all it is.

My insides feel like someone is tearing me apart piece by piece and throwing the rest of me towards the dirt. That's what they want. That's all anyone wants. My hands pound against the table as I look at him. I take in everything I can. Learning from his movements. Learning about how he feels. Obviously he's from a fucking poor district because he's so fucking upset about this drink. It's just a fucking drink!

"Who the fuck are you? And why does it fucking matter to you what the hell I do? So what if it's some top notch drink? It's just a fucking drink! You can easily stand your fucking ass up and go walk across the fucking dinning hall and get some!" I'm yelling. My voice growing stronger and stronger. For once I don't know what I'm doing, and I don't fucking care. Fuck them. Fuck this stupid kid. "I don't know who the hell you fucking think you are, but you can fucking stop with the bullshit right now. Drink up motherfucker!"

An evil grin laced with malice spreads across my face.

The fun begins now.

My heart pounds like a drum ringing through my ears. Thud. Thud. Thud. A simple rhythm matching the sound of the drink pouring onto the floor. "I guess I should be more careful." I feel myself laughing making fun of the kid. Because why not? In the end he's an enemy. And I want to keep it that way.
