Diego was prowling at the base of the Ice Castle, following the trial of a deer. He was hungry, but more importantly, his pack was hungry. When the winter comes, the lone beast dies but the pack survives. Diego was the type of creature to risk everything for his brethren, if that meant going out in these conditions to hunt, so be it. Whilst tracking some paw prints, he paused, interrupted by a loud crashing sound. The howls of Bloodhounds cut through the air, and Diego sensed a fight. He bounded up the mountainside to the front of the Ice Castle. Pillars lay smashed on the floor, something had happened here. He lurked inside, smelling blood.

Three humans shot past him, taking him by surprise. He double-took, spotting a lone human on the inside of the castle, trapped by surrounding rubble. Dinner time. He licked his razor sharp teeth and bounded up onto a vantage point, roaring to make his presence known. This should be an easy kill.

The damn human lashes out with a knife, cutting two, yes two of Diego's claws off. He yelps, limping back. A wounded animal is most dangerous, that's what they say. If you back a big cat into a corner then it's going to lash out. More dangerous than before. The human is poisoned, and weak. Both predators injured. Still, Diego does not yield. He knows that he cannot surrender, for the pack is relying on this kill.

Diego wounds the human, bringing them closer to death, like reeling in a hurt deer. Only Humans are tastier. The meat is darker, more tough. Deer is too rich, but human? Human is juicy and fatty because they gorge themselves on luxuries. This one is skinny, but it will still be ample enough for the pack. He licks his teeth and draws in for the kill.

The human is weak, their attacks are slow and predictable, easy for an agile creature like Diego to avoid. Again they miss, and although Diego is wounded, he is confident. He has lose part of his paw, but he is still dangerous. Hungry for human flesh. His stomach growls, and he echoes it, snarling at the human. He will kill them. He will kill them and feast on the juicy intestines and tender meat.

Again the human lashes out, and Diego is too slow this time. The blade catches his shoulder, and he roars, retreating somewhat. The ice castle is a ruin, but still standing. The throne is in perfect condition, surrounded by broken pillars and smashed sculptures. Myth has it that someone used to live in this castle, ruling a kingdom of ice and snow. At least, that's what Diego's memories told him. His artificial, tampered memories.
