Band of Brothers {New Panem Patriots} Day 2

First came Prism. He was limping like no other. Like something was wrong with him. What a wimp. He couldn't even handle a tiny scratch from the mutts. But I wouldn't dare say that to him because when it comes to fighting he does decently. He doesn't hold us back, and he's definitely doing his fair share. He's fighting. He's doing what he can, but as soon as he reaches the pillar I'm standing at he collapses. He's moaning in pain. Fire boils throughout my veins as I move around trying to figure out what is wrong with him. It was just a scratch. No biggie, but whenever he pulls his pant leg up, I can see the puss, and the infection. My eyes widen as I stare at it. What happened? What was on the hook the mutt had?

Does my head look as bad as his leg?

The pain isn't bad. It stings when I try to touch it, but it looks nothing like what's on his leg, and I couldn't help but agree whenever he said it was disgusting. I watched as he removed his antivenom from his bag, and I wanted to help the motherfucker, but he injected himself with it. Hopefully it would ease the pain. And then, at the very moment, a parachute landed beside him. My eye glared at it as he opened it revealing some kind of rope which obviously pissed Prism off. He shouted at me and threw it at me, but the hopes of climbing this thing grew larger and larger with every passing second.

Mason moves away walking over to some pillar, but I don't dare follow him. He probably wants to be alone. Away from everyone.

Maybe he's plotting to kill us.

Betrayal.

I'll shatter his skull if he even dares.

Then there's Wyatt. He handed me the ice pick, and I knew I was set. I knew this was it.

I was going to climb this pillar.

Sitting down on the ground for only a moment, I shoved the spiked shoes on over top the boots the gamemakers gave us at the beginning. My heart pranced inside my chest as butterflies danced inside my stomach. Adrenaline surges throughout my body as I strap my backpack tightly against my back, and I took the rope. I took one end and wrapped it around the ice pillar, and I took that same end and pushed it through the loops of my bag that was gently pressed against my shoulders. I tied a square knot in the ends of the rope like I saw shown in the training center. I took the ice pick in my hands and hammered it inside the pillar hoping nothing broke.

Sliding the rope up the ice pillar, I remove the ice pick and slam it in again higher up, then I move my feet digging the spikes of the shoes into the ice. I slide the rope up again, and I remove the ice pick from the ice, and I slam it in again. Little by little I make my way up this pillar. The snow lands on my face, and in my hair as I'm moving. The wind slaps across my face making it hurt. My lungs burn. It's like the entire world is raining fire and I'm inhaling every single bit of it.

One foot after the other, I'm edging my way up this giant pillar.

Slamming the ice pick into the ice.

Then step.

Over and over. I lean back looking around taking in the amazing view this pillar is offer. If the snow wasn't falling so hard, and the wind wasn't blowing, I could see forever. I probably could see the rest of the arena, and everything that's prepared for me. I could probably see the locations of the other tributes, but since the visibility is low, I may never know where anyone is.

Not that it matters.

They'll all die anyway.

The golden object grows larger and larger as I get closer and closer, yet at the same time it seems so far away. So fucking out of reach, and I want to stop. I want to slide down the pillar and say it because it's not worth the risk I took, but something isnide me keeps me going.

Slide.

Remove.

Slam.

Step.

Slide.

Remove.

Slam.

Step.

Over and over, and I'm almost in grasp of it. I can almost reach it. Just a little farther. My insides bloom with excitement as the rush of the wind nearly knocks me off the pillar - if it wasn't for the rope, I would've fell. I tighten my grip on the ice pick again, and I start moving myself closer and closer.

Inch by inch.

Step by step.

And it's finally in my grasp.

"I'M ON TOP OF THE WORLD!" I shout at the top of my lungs. My breaths crystallize before my eyes with every word. The wind is cold, and I'm not sure what to do now. I don't have nothing to do. Nothing to say.

Who's the coward now?

Who's the one that's going to fucking die?

Not me.

That's for sure.

I carefully place the chest inside my backpack. I'm not ready to open it yet because something could be inside. Something bad. Something that could kill me. Something that nobody would want to see. And I slide down the pillar using the rope keeping myself secured to it. Making sure I'm done moving.

Going down was easier than going up. It doesn't take as long, and there isn't much strength needed in falling. The muscles in my arms shake, and my lungs burn. They hurt.

Every single breath takes another second of my life away, and I don't want to go on. I can't move, but I just climbed the fucking ice pillar. I made it to the top. I celebrated for only a moment, and now that my feet are on the ground, I take in my surroundings. I look over at Prism still seated on the ground. Wyatt standing next to him, and Mason still by himself.

I untie myself from the rope, and I roll it back up like it was. The same way he threw it at me. The same way Prism handed it to me - it's only polite. Who the fuck needs to be polite in a frozen hell where everyone is going to die anyway? Who cares?

I might not, but I have to show it.

I have to.

Prism is in need.

I sit down beside him before removing the golden chest from my backpack. I drop the rope in his lap without saying anything because right now the chest is more important. "Might want to be prepared." I nod my head as I hand the ice pick back to Wyatt.

With a hatchet in hand, I slip the lid of the golden chest open half afraid something would jump out. I'm prepared to attack, but nothing moves, and I can't help but laugh as my eyes rest on the contents inside. Two fish. Two raw fish, and a full water jug. "Yo, Prism, here have a fish man." I remove the other fish from the golden chest, and I toss it inside my backpack, and I do the same with the full water jug.

Ting.

Ting.

Ting.

A parachute lands beside me, and for once I'm not sure what to do with it, but I open it up, and inside is a medical kit. I slide the kit open, and inside is a needle and thread along with some bandages. I take the needle and thread out looking at it. My eyes shifting from Mason, to Wyatt, to Prism, then back to the the needle and thread. Prism needs this more than I do. "Here allow me." My voice quiet as I grit my teeth pressing the needle and thread into his infected leg sewing up the cut he received. I try to block out the cries of pain, but it's over as soon as it started. I toss the needle and thread back into the medical kit and throw them back inside my bag then remove the spiked shoes from my feet and place them back inside my bag as well.

"I guess that climb was worth it."

I'm back on my feet quickly, and I'm moving away from them heading over towards Mason with a bundle of edible plants in my hands. He's deserving of something. Something useful. Something he won't ever be able to repay me back for. "Here ya go Mason." I say as I lay the bundle of edible plants beside him. "Have some food. You can eat it now or later. I don't care, but it's your's."

He might not want my help, but for all I care he's my bro. They all are my bros, and I must do whatever I can to help them.
