Clea Vanderson - District 6

Clea has the kind of face that seems like it's perpetually guarding a secret. Even if she isn't necessarily, she hates how hard it is for people to trust her. And it's just her natural facial expression and structure, not something she does on purpose. She has a full body with a visible, but subtle hourglass figure. She's tall, but not so tall that she towers over others. She's the kind of tall where one notices, but she only has to direct her eyes down to make eye contact, not her entire head. Her head is full of lush black locks. They're very curly and they extend all the way down to her mid-back. This helps to extentuate her skin color, which has a nice, sun-kissed tone to it.

Her face is long and relatively full. Her cheeks are at the extent where they only leave a small impression on the face, instead of the impression one would get from somebody with high cheekbones. Her cheekbones sit midway between her eyes and her mouth. They help to show off her defined, but soft jaw line. It curves in a delicate arc until it reaches the chin, where it quickly flattens off to define her chin. Clea's nose is small, very short and very narrow, appearing almost like a ball that sits above her mouth. Her lips are large, but short. One could possibly use the term, "puffy" to describe them, but that's a bit too dramatic a term for them. Her eyes are a dark chocolate brown and they're relatively large in comparison to the other features on her face. They sport long, lush eyelashes which flow almost all the way up to her thin arched eyebrows.

Clea is the kind of girl who keeps to herself, but inside there's so much going on. Clea almost never reaches out to other people when it comes time to talk. In school, she dreads group activities and it's mostly just because she hates meeting people. She doesn't hate people, she loves her friends and she loves talking to people, but she absolutely can't stand that first little mountain one must get over before two people can become friends. And despite her evident lack of willpower to do this, she wishes she was more confident in herself to do so. Clea scares easily, though and because of that, she's easily deterred from things.

The thing about Clea, though, is that she absolutely loves to sing and dance. Whenever she gets home before her mother she won't waste any time and get straight to singing and dancing. She mostly likes fast-paced songs, because they fulfill her desire to live a faster-paced life. The funny thing is that when Clea writes songs, she often writes slow songs. She thinks that they sound more beautiful, but also that they're easier to write as well as sing. She doesn't have any musical instruments, though, so all she has is her voice. She plans on one day coming out with the secret that she likes to sing, but she isn't sure when. It would probably shock a lot of people, including most of her friends.

And Clea isn't necessarily a "secretive" girl. She has many secrets, but that's because nobody ever asks her questions about herself that are that deep. Clea's only told four lies in her life. Or at least four lies that she can remember. And they were small ones like, "No, I didn't eat the cookie on the table." or "I scored well on that test." She eventually confessed to the lies to her parent, but Clea prides herself in her honesty. But, she often twists her words into something that could possibly be construed as the truth, but people often interpret them as something different. She really starts to talk in riddles and respond with questions when she starts talking about personal things. It doesn't happen much, but just with her closest friend and her mom.

Clea has never had a father. Her father left when Clea was born. Clea's father stayed with Clea's mother right up until Clea was born. He was there to take Clea's mother to the hospital, but he never entered the delivery room. Clea's mother thought he would certainly show up, he just got lost in the storm of doctors. But he never arrived and never showed up after Clea's mother took Clea home. Clea's mother was heartbroken and trying to take care of a newborn. And she decided she couldn't do it. So she gave Clea up for adoption.

Clea was shipped around to foster homes until she was two years old, then Clea's mother came back for her. It had taken two years for Clea's mother to finally get over the hearbreak and want Clea back. After that, Clea's mother took extra good care of Clea. Almost what you could call an obsessive mom. Clea's mother has also never told Clea that she was put in a foster home for the first two years of her life. And so far, she's lucked out because Clea hasn't found out and doesn't remember anything from her life at that age. Clea has also never heard the story about what happened to her father. She doesn't know where he went, if he was ever even there, what he looked like, or even his name. Clea has asked her mother on multiple occasions, but Clea's mother would never give up the information.

Growing up with a single obsessive parent who works a whole lot to keep the family going was difficult on Clea. She often was alone and had to come up with her own ways to have fun and entertain herself. That's where Clea developed her love of singing and writing songs, because she found that it passed the time wonderfully. But it's also where Clea developed her introverted personality. She would spend so much time alone that she wouldn't like spending time with other people. So one can imagine the relationship she has with her mother. They're often squabbling over how the other keeps information from the other, and when they're not arguing about that, they're arguing about anything else that annoys them.
