Everything is an advantage if she makes it. All it takes is the metaphorical twist of someone's arm and the innocent flutter of lashes that draws them in even through the pain. Vesper knows how to play the game of power; she's lost far too many times to her fucked up brother to fail elsewhere. At least, that's what she tells herself, because it's easier than thinking she can't.

Besides, it's power that has kept her alive all these years: knowing how to ask for favors, knowing what to promise in return... knowing why she had to give herself up in order to stay alive, Vesper has rubbed shoulders with too many 'people in power' - or at least, friends and family to whom she's given power - that she knows how it feels to be in debt.

Not good.

But not today - no more; Vesper's finished playing the beaten pet to her own blood and his wooden throne. When she rises she will have mercy for all who deserves it, but today she steps out to break free, even if she breaks herself in the process.

 "It's worth it," she tells herself in the grime-covered mirror, and turns with hardened eyes to walk out her room door.
