Lily HOPE

For the rest of day 1 the wolf did not show. I became ever more scared as the night went by. This is why I decided to wake early and travel. Travel farther. Away from the daunting night, away from the loneliness. Perhaps come across some more resources to stuff in my bag, perhaps come across a threat that triggers the wolf to show up again. I stretch my neck hearing a crack that triggers me to cringe a bit thinking of my jaw and the pain. The pain was real. Just like the pain of loneliness. Of no one caring for myself. Other than this dead bird that I now carried around in my hand to give me false company, I had none. No one to care about me, no one to ask me if my jaw hurt. I crave some company, some security. Should I sacrifice one to get the other? Should I join in a fight to release the wolf? I decided to join a fight with another tribute against some mutts. To release the wolf. I wont stand loneliness no more! BAD LILY IS BACK!

	The train was horrible especially with so many tributes. All of them gathered around. Trying to heal Circe. Eleven was lucky that he didn't try anything otherwise I would've took his head. Trusting people was what I thought would get me through this game, but it turns out that I can't trust anyone. Not after Elya was killed. Not after the amount of pain Circe was put through by the tributes brutalizing her in the bloodbath. I can't even trust myself. I promised myself that I would protect them, but I failed. Sighing I grab my items and walk away stopping in front of the door as the train flies away from the cornucopia. Tears sit on the brim of my eyes knowing that it's the final resting place of a district partner. Suddenly the door flew open. My mind races as I realize how fast it's going. I stood at the edge holding onto Circe. The wind was loud. Terribly loud, and I almost couldn't hear her speaking, but over the roar, I made out three. My heart pranced inside my chest as I realized what she was talking about. On three we would jump from the train. On three we would fly through its doors onto the hard ground below us. And she started counting. Every number felt like an entire life time. One. Two. Three. And I jumped with them. "ORION!" Her voice echoes through my mind and I know something's wrong right away. The land isn't getting closer - it's moving further and further away. I've missed, and I'm falling down the huge gap. I'm falling to my death. I can't imagine what my family is thinking right now. Odysseus. Oli. Torik. All of them staring at the screen watching me fall to my death. I try to scream for Circe to run. To get away from the gap, but it's drown out by my screams as I fall. The light slowly growing darker and darker with every passing second. I can feel tears trickling down my face. I don't want to die this way. Falling. Afraid. I throw my arms out in front of me praying that I can save myself. It's so dark, and I can't see anything anymore. This is how I die. It's all I can think about. I close my eyes. Please let me live. Pain shoots through my arm. A horrible snap fills the air around me. I scream at the top of my lungs knowing that my arm or arms are obviously broken. The pain is worse than any physical pain I've ever experienced before, but it means I'm alive. Rolling over onto my side I try to figure out where I am, yet I can't even see my hand before my face. I can't see anything right now. I don't even know if my eyes are open. Something makes sounds in the distance. Every hair stands on end as I strain trying to figure out if anything is beside me. Slowly I feel my way around hoping I can find some sort of wall. Something to rest on, but at first I feel something wet. It could be anything. Blood. Water. Anything. I remember the darkness from the sixty-eighth games. Maybe that's all this is. Scooting back, I find the wall. I remove my bag from my shoulders and I dig inside until I think I've found my medkit. Thankfully in feel the bandages. I remove a bunch of them and wrap my arm up while listening for anything to creep up on me. My entire body shakes as butterflies dance in my stomach. My mind races wondering if one of those huge beasts is lurking in the distance. I grab ahold the needle and thread and continue working until my arm is patched up. I throw it back into my bag. How am I going to find Circe and Nat and Gunner now? They don't even know where I am, and I don't know where they are. Tears continue rolling down my face. Might as well give up because trapped somewhere in the arena. The gamemakers and everyone else can watch me starve to death or die of dehydration or something. I don't know. It's such a horrible feeling. Something I hate. Ding. Ding. Ding. My eyes sweep through the area and I can't see a damn thing, yet the familiar sound of a parachute from sponsors keeps ringing through the air. Forcing myself to my feet, I keep one hand against the wall while attempting to locate the parachute. And with success I succeed. A can't count how many pods there are, but I open them all trying to figure out what I have, but it does me no good. Nothing at all. But they feel hard like my armored vest. I try to put them on like I've seen people do before and eventually I find where everything goes. A small grin twists its way across my face. Maybe I can survive the night. Is it the day? I don't know anymore. Sighing I keep going until I find something cold in front of me. There's so many parts to it, and I assume it's there to climb. One step after another I reach and reach until I remove the manhole cover. Light glares in my eyes blinding me. I can't see. But I keep moving, and I have my sword ready to defend myself. Hopefully I can find Circe and Nat and Gunner. Hopefully they survived because I couldn't live with myself if they appeared in the anthem at night.

There are many others that lurk in this place with bones made of carbon and oxygen, who slink in the grasses and haunt the husks of buildings made long before us, but they do not touch us as we float past. They know the fire in our chest. They fear it, as our kind was once feared in another life.

Dawn comes, and with it the Fleshed Ones. One appears from below and another from around, and two of our limbs are cleaved from us. Their pistons stutter and fall silent. If we could, we would feel rage, anger to strike at those who have wronged us, hatred at those who wish us silenced. But we are not the Mother, and there is nothing in the artificial hold of our hearts.

We were made in her image. And in her image, we will burn.

My arms swing with the axe, it goes straight towards the little creature, embedding itself in it's neck. I cringe even though it is metal. I vaguely see someone else standing near me. We have some sort of understanding, these creatures first, then we let each other go. We aren't friends, but currently, we aren't enemies either. As I slice through the machine I notice it is a miniature dragon like the ones I have read about in books. I let myself stand and gasp. I have seen this person before, he came with the wolf from district two. I remember them standing together, and I thought they were in an alliance. For a split second I think the wolf is with him, ready to kill me, but then I remember her face up in the sky high above the scrap heap where I had just been resting.

Then I feel a slash along my arm, I scream out in pain. I whirl around and see another one of the small dragons, breathing fire at me. My eyes widen in fear, and it sends out a burst of flame. I dive out of the way, but not before getting a small burn from it. "Stupid dragon." I mutter under my breath, "I'll teach you to mess with the queen of the scrap heap and factory."

	The flame reminds me of his last stand. Mason. He fought so brave with it, and it's time I do the same. I need to turn myself into him. A killer, but it destroys me on the inside. Killing people. Anything. My body's tired from lack of sleep, and I want to curl up in a ball, but these little things are running towards me. It's then I notice a smaller girl standing close by. An easy target for me. I could end her, but I want to save her. It's my goal to save someone. To help them. I was amazed that the flame remained as my blade struck down one of the many tiny critters running towards me, and I watch as another one falls due to a huge gaping wound on it's neck. This girl standing next to me is a force to reckon with. Such accuracy and aim. I can't let it distract me. I can't let it do anything. I have to fight for myself to find my allies again. They're my family. My friends. They keep me going. My mind races as I look around raising my blade into the air once more. Hopefully I can destroy this one just as the first one and make a run for it. To end this now while I still have a chance. I have a few items I want to figure out. A few items to try. I strike the tiny mutt and I wait hoping for the best.

I cringe as the boy from district two swiftly kills the other tiny dragon. I swiftly walk over and grab one of the dragon's by it's tail and cut it off. I stuff the tail into my backpack as a good luck charm. I walk over towards the exit of the large room of the factory we were in and made my eyes flash dangerously at the boy, "Don't try to follow me." Maybe if I seem more dangerous, the careers will try to avoid me even though I am just a small girl. I swiftly leave the room, I know this place like the back of my hand even though I had just gotten there. It appears to have been modeled after one of the factories I worked for in district eight. As I remember this I feel a pang in my chest, I just want to go home now, despite how bad district eight is, I just want to go home.

The tiny critter was moving quickly. And it tried to dig its way through my chest, but thankfully the vest someone sent me, saved me. Silently I whisper a thanks. Something to let them know that I do care. The heat of the fire burns my skin for only a moment, but it takes away everything. I take a step back looking around as the little girl slams another axe into the beast. Raising my brow I turn away from her. I try to keep my distance out of fear she'll target me, but right now I must attack and get away.

I slam the sword down into the last mutt. My flame died which makes me sad, but it still died. And now I'm ready to run. I'm ready to get away. To flee. To survive. Hopefully my family sees me staying true to myself. Protecting the little girl and not attacking her. As she runs away, I follow behind her running as fast as I can until I'm finally free. I just hope I can say the same for my allies. I sure need them right now. I definitely need them.

Part of me is relieved the fight is over. The girl from eight did a number on these miniature dragons. Still there is no doubt in my mind that I could have killed her with ease. Which is why I am also happy the girl fled from the scene. Evidently she didn't trust me enough to stay around. The old saying had been true today. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. We united against the mutts and now we're back to enemies. I only wish Circe was here. How I miss her. Nat and Gunner as well. "I'm coming for you Circe." As well as Gunner and Nat. My allies. I will find them.
