Morley 'Freckles' Cabers | District 5 | FIN

Splashed across Morley’s cheeks are a collection of freckles, likely to be his signature piece of his appearance. Little Freckles , is what he usually get nicknamed as. Morley doesn’t mind, he takes the nickname with pride, he could’ve been named much worse. Painting his eyes is a shade of hazel, replicates of his mother and brother’s. 

Greatly short for his age, Morley is usually mistaken for an eight year old or younger. Morley feels quite annoyed with his lack of height, only being four feet and two inches tall. A growth spurt is very much needed for him. Occasionally many may tease him for his height, Morley can usually brush it off and laugh along with them but sometimes he does get pretty pissed off.

Despite getting teased for his lack of height, many praise him for being cute. Morley loves the attention for his cuteness and hopes to continue with his puppy looks when he reaches puberty. Although many believe he may suddenly grow a beard and obtain a deep voice. Running along his cute looks is his voice. Quite a high pitch tone for a boy, although not mistaken for a girl’s voice, it is still quite reasonably girly. 

Falling down the side of his face are his ears. Monkey ears as many call him. Sometimes he may be dragged about by his ears, especially by his parents. It is an easy restraint method of Morley and his brother has picked up this tactic from his parents. Regularly in the typical sibling fights, his brother will pull his ears. With all this pulling, Morley believes his ears may drop off at some point so regularly tries to stop them getting touched.

Playing around and having fun is in most twelve year olds agendas, just like Morley’s. Messing around with his friends or by himself, he is the one for adventure. Most of the time he may get into trouble but it doesn’t stop him from doing it again. Many say he is a brave little kid but his parent’s think otherwise. Regularly they punish him for his antics, they think he may get himself injured and sometimes he just disrupts them. Morley spends most of his time grounded in his room because of this but there has many occasions where he has snuck out of the house. That is why they put bars on his windows and three locks on his door.

Whenever he is out having his little ‘adventures’, he is usually the leader in the little gang. Forever pushing others to do things or forcing them too, he is quite a relentless leader. Although most of the time he can be quite a motivator. He hates seeing people give up on things, so will try anything to get them through a struggle. If he dares his friends to knock on a strangers door and run and they’re too scared to do it, he’ll wait for hours for them to have them plant their hand on that door. Morley isn’t the one to give up on himself either, he’ll do anything. He isn’t seeking attention or pride, he just wants to try out a lot of different things.

Easily influenced by many, Morley has gotten into a lot of sticky situations before. He doesn’t realise that things can endanger him, he doesn’t think about the hazards that could occur if he does a certain thing. His parents call him stupid for not evaluating things, Morley just calls himself daring.

Socialising is another part of his cheeky personality. Morley is known for his witty responses, it makes up for his lack of risk assessments, he can get a room to fill with laughter. He knows he is cracking the jokes, so isn’t dry. Although with his parents, he talks back a lot, thinking he is superior to them with his cheeky responses. Morley sometimes goes too far with his witty comments, offending people most of the time. His mother believes if they don’t sort him out now, he will become much worse with age.

Being the youngest of two, Morley had quite a steady upbringing. Both of his parents have stable jobs in the District, which match the trade for five; both of whom are Geologists. As an infant, Morley followed his mother with her liquid investigations, she used to test a variety of water sources for pollution. Morley didn’t find such a great keen interest in the subject, so stopped shadowing his mother’s work. However his brother loved the idea of becoming a Geologist.

Having a steady relationship with his brother Eoin, who is older by three years, they are quite close. Usually they have the typical sibling rivalry fights but most of the time they watch each other’s backs. Eoin fears for Morley’s lack of sharpness and worries he is likely to be arrested because of his voice or his childish antics. He worries he may go too far with his showing off or insult a Peacekeeper although so far nothing has happened.

Morley didn’t exactly enjoy his schooling, he was the class clown as expected. Throwing witty comments across the class and stirring up laughter in the room, most tutors were practically annoyed with him. Although he shone a great trait, he could speak confidently  . Finally his big mouth was some use, he is a real confident speaker, he can easily stand in front of a big crowd and talk. Morley hasn’t been given the chance, the biggest crowd he has spoken in front of is his class but there is always time. Morley wouldn’t necessarily know anything intelligent to say but if he was given a script, he would perform it brilliantly.

A time that Morley was influence was when he was eleven, it was his brother Eoin who was the influence, which he greatly regrets. The pair were roaming the District and approached a disused pylon. Eoin dared Morley to climb it and so he did. Scrambling up the ladders, Morley was just a quarter of the way up, when they heard a voice shouting. Trying to get down, Morley was nearly to the ground so jumped. Twisting his ankle, Eoin had to drag him home. Thankfully they lost the person who shouted. Eoin felt frightened because of it but Morley loved the adrenaline rush of being dragged. Eoin persuaded his parent that Morley just fell over air, which they believed to be the reason for his swollen twisted ankle.
