All had became too real far too quickly, as the harmonious melody of the gleaming harp had counted down every passing heartbeat, and every dying memory that'd come and gone in the very few seconds of solitude.

It was the urge- the adrenaline- the rush of it all? Perhaps.
But perhaps it was the fact that staying and dying would be quicker than to leave without even a single ounce of trace to be left behind. The trodden grass beneath his feet, and maybe- just maybe- if it wasn't smothered with the underside of his boot, with the last name Chase, to echo forever in existence then it wouldn't leave the depth reminder that. "This is all very real- Isn't it?"

And he has the will to survive.

His mind boggled and his eyes raced, in an attempt to scream and turn, as if death could be immune to those who hid from it. But the Grim Reaper smiled with his pearly whites, and beckoned with his boney hands, and he was all for the taking. However, he was not going down without a fight.

Hope was the only single thread of a blistering light where it left the feelings of fear, anger, sorrow, regret, and anxiety sun-dusted. The remaining bits of it were precious to him in the uproar of twenty-three other marked deaths of uncertainty, clawing at each other one by one until- all that remained was a glistening face that replaced the original. Left to be kissed by the freckled stars that welcome even the most unfortunate.

The farewell to both Cricket and Julian left him rendered to figure out of this was all just a faint reminder that death was creeping just around the corner. Or if he'd fallen into a nightmare, where maybe even the first hit would send him into heat sweats and chills upon flying up in his bed.

He thought back to Leticia and Cody and Draco, questioning their positions in the frenzy. But maybe he was already too lost to be found upon the fresh blood that caked the ground heavily. And some would say it had finally eased into his mind, that this is reality. And only more damage would be added to the raging flame of the immediate fire.
