Ratmas 2015: Day 7 - Ratmas Lore

T'was the Night Before Ratmas...

T'was the night before Ratmas, and the site was abuzz with activity. The librarians, wearing nothing but tinsel, paraded around with their kinky whips over their shoulders while the moderators stuffed their faces with thick, gooey pudding. All the while, little members peeked from doorways and giggled to each other in their excitement. Some clapped their hands while others stared at the sky watching little white snowflakes fly by. Little did these people know, those little tufts of snow were something much more dangerous They were filled with sharp icicles that gave you pain if you touched the small snow piles. Yet from the outside, they looked perfectly harmless, almost as if you could pet one. Reaching my hand with an outstretched palm facing it, extended fingers in delight, I run my hand against its fur- its noise shifts from growls to a hum. I smile softly at the sound, a crease of my eyes as I laugh, and I name the beast before me with a whisper, "Ripred, I'll call you." The beast roared, rending the air with her scaly wings, and I clamber onto her back just in time, the dreaded sound of pursuing footsteps around the corridor. They were coming after me, and I doubted I would make it out alive, especially on the back of such a large creature. My mind was swarmed with the possibilities of my end but I must keep my head, I must take control of this elephant mutant that I ride. The elephant's name was Joe. He was a weird elephant. He liked to admire himself in the mirror of the lake every morning. And occasionally, when the orange of sunrise hit the water just right, the lake would admire itself in ​him. Most sunrises though, were made of tiny intricacies; small pinpricks of determination pit against fear, the taint of the wilds thick across his fingertips. But this morning the sunrise did not bring him fear, nor agitation - this morning, the sun brought a new hope strewn across the sky and he felt it in every inch of his being. A hope that maybe someday, the person he likes will like him back. It was that very same hope that made him race to their house, pound on the door and confess his love. Unfortunately, when the door opened it was a very large scary man who answered; he had the wrong house! "What do you want?" He asked in an unpleasant tone. "Wine, and lots of it," was the reply. And the famed admin, Kay, would be pleased by such a statement and raise her glass in agreement. However, Aya did not agree, and her grip on the glass tightened, threatening to break -if only she applied a little more pressure. However, the spirit of Ripred calmed Aya, and allowed extra refills of certain alcohols which Aya did indeed agree with. The Spirit of Ripred, which now had calmed Aya, asked Aya, "What will you give to everyone now that I have calmed you?" Aya took a deep breath, revelling the sense of calm that had been so generously bestowed upon her and said serenely, "Death is my gift." Suddenly the admin began to rise up from the ground, gigantic black wings sprouting and curling outwards from her back. Her eyes gleamed with the unholy light of a forsaken triangle as the ground from which she rose shook fiercer than a dragon's roar. Around her light was fractured into prisms that stretch out like wings from her back. She is the beautiful, glorious, wine mom, soaring into the skies, painted scarlet and gold by the sinking sun, alongside the vodka aunt. Together, they drowned the world in their respective liquors, rendering everyone and everything a festively drunken mess. ​And thus, Ratmas was born.
