It's amazing. Simply by being born, I managed to end one life and ruin another.

Former Peacekeeper Dominick Iscariot is my father. Loyalty to The Capitol means no children, and accidents aren't pardoned. He lost everything because I exist. I'm the stain he has to live with for the rest of his life. Whether he pretends to cherish me or not, I know that I'm a mistake, and it sucks. I didn't choose this.

My half-brother rests on the opposite side of the spectrum. He chooses to sell drugs and jeopardize his life, and nothing is out of his control. He knew our mother before I killed her. If he ruins a life, it was his intention and not an accident. The blood on his hands won't be laced with uncertainty.

There is very little a girl like me can do to redeem herself, so I've chosen the worst path; Dominick's fallen legacy. I will become a Peacekeeper, a woman in white, a law enforcer. I will erase the stain I've made by eradicating the scum of my District. I've always been a stickler for the rules, after all. It shouldn't be difficult to hate the ones who won't agree with me.

I suspect that my brother, Cain, doesn't like the idea. It must be a waste of my time, right?

The people have yet to see how determined I am, and how stubborn I can be. When a Peacekeeper falls, they always stand back up. There is no surrender. There is nobody to use as a weapon against them, because there is no room for love. I can live without that worry.

I would only kill them anyway.
