Drake Harvest/11/done

Appearance:

Drake's hair is a dark black and is cut short, so that it is short enough to barely touch his forehead. He has a broad forehead which juts out from the top of his head. His arms and chest are covered in muscle from working in the barley fields for the past six years. Everything about him is large really. His arms, his chest, his nose, his forehead, and even Drake himself is huge, standing at six feet five inches he stands above everyone else.

What isn't large about him is his voice. Instead of his voice being loud, deep, and imposing, like most people would expect from looking at him, his voice is the one of someone who is much younger. His voice is a higher pitch than other's his age, and is quiet and soft. As well as that his speech is littered with "uhs" and "ums" from years of cringing back from everyone else.

His large hands are rough from the hours in the fields of district eleven, but when he comes home to his house he can still manage to create the most delicate of sculptures made from small sticks. Every day when he comes home his brown eyes first survey the sculptures he makes to sell in his spare time, and then he walks over to a work station he set up for himself in a corner. A smile forms on his parched lips every time he starts to work with the little objects to create masterpieces.

Personality:

Drake's appearance betrays his true personality. Instead of being commanding and imposing, or violent and always angry, Drake is shy and quiet. When he was little he was a lot smaller compared to others than he is now, and so he taught himself to stay in the corner and not come out to meet anyone. He doesn't trust anyone new, and when confronted with the challenge to speak he keeps his words simple, few, and they are spoken as quietly as possible.

Despite being holed up in his own head when he is with others, when he is home alone he flourishes. Drake's creativity unleashes itself when he is home in his corner creating his little statues. This boy from district eleven is never normally happy or joyful either during his day, until he gets home and surveys his creations. The figures made from sticks bring him such joy knowing that he was the one who made them.

Because of Drake being so shy most people can't realize how kind he is. The years of torment in school had taught Drake to be kind and gentle to others. He really tries to be as kind and gentle as he wants with humans, but normally he is just afraid of other humans now, and so he bottles up most of his kindness while he is working in the field(where he feels he doesn't need it), and instead unleashes it when he gets home like with his creativity. If you walk into his house, first thing you will see on the table is a small basket of food which he saves especially for the animals that live in his backyard. Every day he sets it out in the middle of his backyard, and the few birds and other furry creatures that managed to slip past the peacekeepers' guard nibble on the food given to them.

History:

Drake was born into one of the better families in district eleven. I am not saying he was rich or anything like that, but he was one of the few who had enough to live with comfortably. His father and mother both worked as irrigators at one of the wheat farms and because of how hard they worked, Drake's family was able to survive. A lot of kids at his school envied him for being able to live with enough food while most of them were starving, and so they bullied him. This was before his growth spurt, and before that he was tiny and the others kids attacked him for that.

When Drake was twelve years old, his father died from a peacekeeper's punishment. The peacekeeper had been under the impression for some reason that Drake's father had stolen a bit of food from the harvest and so Drake's father was flogged to death. After a few months of only his mother working, Drake and his mother started to feel hunger. Soon Drake started to work as well. He dropped out of school so he could work full time at the Barely farms.

At first he was small and weak, but after a while, once his growth spurt started, he became larger and larger and soon was able to work in the fields with ease. He didn't get as much money as you would if you were an irrigator, but it was enough to live with combined with the work his mother did. Soon after he started his work he wanted to make a bit more money so that he could try and live a bit better. That was when he started creating his stick sculptures and selling them for small prices to the few who could spend frugally.

Now Drake lives an ok life with enough money to survive and a bit more. Ever since he started selling his sculptures they have had a tiny bit extra money for extra food which he normally leaves outside for the animals. Even though his life seems great compared to others in his district, Drake still has the emotional scars from bullies in his youth which still haunt him to this day which, in a way, make it all the more terrible for him.
