Writing Thinks "Says" "Hears"

The clatter of hooves on the dirt brings his body to life. The fresh air filling his lungs as the early morning had begun. The Winchester siblings all out doing their daily ranch work. The ranch boy's blue eyes shining perfectly against the blue sky. Happiess was always around him. A swirl of air is what happiness was. It was fresh and soothing to the skin. A sense of comfort that wraps him up and makes him feel like he's in paradise. The morning was nice and cool and the denim jacket on his back felt perfect for the weather. Warmth enveloped him and the boy felt at ease.

Herding the cattle for the day was a breeze. The Winchesters finished early with little problems throughout the day. Caine had wanted to stay home for the rest of the day, but unfortunately there was still a slight problem. His father who stood taller than Caine was smiling at him. His voice filled the air like a calming wave, but yet the news was alarming, "Caine, I was informed by your younger brother that we need some more hay for the cattle. Would you be a great son and go get it for us?" Caine just nods as he heads out to the District. A mission in his hands. The boy set out for the hay that was needed. Money in hands just for the hay.

The district was rather busy like always. The eldest Winchester knew what he needed, but the problem was that there was a ton of people. Caine whispered to himself, "Everyone and their dogs decided to come to the market today." The hay wasn't as expensive as he thought it would have been, but getting it out of the market place was horrible. His poor horse was being tormented by the crowd. Eventually, the boy escaped the crowded market, only to come across something different. A voice. A lovely and beautiful voice. A rhythm of lyrics coming out of someone's mouth. Caine felt like a cat, perking his ears up at the tune. The melody gave him a wave of comfort. Goosebumps formed on his skin and a chill ran down his spine from the clearly soothing voice.

A boy, who was clearly around his age, was singing. A beautiful melody that Caine wanted to listen to every day from just hearing it. A guy who seemed to catch Caine's attention with just a song. A smile finds it's way to the eldest Winchester boy's face. The money in his pocket just waiting to be given to the boy singing. Caine just wants to sit there and listen to him all day. Caine climbs off his horse who seems to be happy for a break. The eldest Winchester boy ties the horse to a railing and walks off hands in his denim jacket's pockets.

The cold air wasn't as chilling as it was then. The wind felt cold. His cheeks began to redden from the cold air. Chills from the wind and music mix together making Caine feel welcomed. A surprising warmth hits him when another lyric hits his ears. Caine feels the rope on his left hit his leg softly and the revolver on the right in it's holster steadily staying still. The rancher reached the singing boy. Caine just wanted to speak, but the music would stop most likely if he did and Caine didn't want that. A small shiver hits him and Caine finally pulls out a bigger bill, about twenty dollars, and sets in the guy's lap. A smile on his face. Words fall from his lips, "You've got a great voice. Hope it helps ya."

I need to get more money from doing this. I'm barely scraping by from all the donations from the people that listen to me, and at least enjoy it. Despite that, I'm doing something that I love. I look up and see a boy, around my age, maybe older than myself. Definitely doing something that makes what I do like a petulant child doing whatever the hell that they want. And indeed it is. He's riding a horse, a fate that was meant to be destined for me, going to and from the farm getting items needed from the market that is sprawled all across the built-up area of 10. It'll be a horror upon me.

Although, I have to admit, riding a horse would be pretty cool, a benefit that is almost, almost, worth being away from music. But even that would never tempt me away from the guitar that I threw everything away for. What would be the point to head back now, my head down into the ground for the possibility to ride and have a horse? I see no benefit in doing that after just a couple of months away.

And I look up, and see a horse, tied carefully to a railing, looking graceful. Was that the horse that I saw just moments ago? As the final chord plays, I see the boy, a smile on face, walking steadily towards me. There were words on his lips, and fell out of his mouth they did. "You've got a great voice. Hope it helps ya." A bill fell from his fingers, and onto my lap. $20, enough for food for a couple of days. And a smile filled my face, and I look up to him. "Thank's man! Ya really make stuff like this worth it."

And I look up, and see his horse, graceful, while standing still. Nodding my head towards it, as the boy turned to go, "Hey, is that your horse? It a beautiful thing to ride?" Shoving the note into my pocket, I stand up, and walk up to the boy. A thought crosses my mind, a deal that I'd accept within an instant, and I'm not even sure that it's sane. The weather is probably messing with my mind, the cold making my head hurt more than my fingers ache.

"This probably sounds crazy, but can I have a ride on your horse? An' I'll teach ya to how to play the guitar? Horse's are graceful, an' yours is an absolute beaut." A nervous laugh crosses my lips. It's a big question, and one that I would probably never accept, if I were asked it on the streets by a performer. It's worth the effort, isn't it?

A smile was the best gift to the world. A small smile could change a person's day immensely. Caine felt like that. The smile on the musically inclined male made Caine feel proud of what he was doing. The melodic voice spoke to him and it sent a bit of a shiver up his spine. "Thank's man! Ya really make stuff like this worth it." The Winchester boy just smiled. Dreams were meant to come true for everyone. The Melodic man was going to get his dream. A Winchester can always tell. The melodic man would be a hit with anyone, music gives life to the district. Music is and will always be one of the most powerful weapons a person can have. Music can calm the stressed. Music can get an army to fight. Music can cause memories to be remembered. Music is a powerful weapon in Panem and yet, the melodic boy could make it just perfect to soothe Caine on the rough day of work.

The Melodic man looks up and Caine follows his eyes to his horse. All the Winchester's had one. It was tradition. You had to raise your own horse from a foal to an adult horse. That's exactly what Caine had done with his horse. It's what his younger brother did with his. And then the rest of the siblings after did it too. His horse which he named Abel. Abel was a pain to raise. A horse who hated for people to ride him. Caine spent days trying to ride Abel. The Winchester boy would get bucked off multiple times, until finally Caine got frustrated and figured out how to ride Abel without angering him. Caine and Abel had been the best of pals ever since. Caine was walking away. His horse was waiting patiently for him. A couple steps away and the guy stops him, the melodic voice reaches his ears, "Hey, is that your horse? It a beautiful thing to ride?"

The Winchester boy turned to the melodic man and smiled. He spoke happily, "Yes. That's my horse. He's such a beautiful thing to ride. His name's Abel." Caine was already at his friend. His hand stroking Abel's neck. Abel seemed to relax into his touch. Caine just smiled at his friend as he rubbed his horse's neck. The melodic man was quiet for a while, like he was thinking of something. Caine let him do whatever it was the guy was doing. Caine was too busy with Abel to pay attention, until the guy asked for a deal,
"This probably sounds crazy, but can I have a ride on your horse? An' I'll teach ya to how to play the guitar? Horse's are graceful, an' yours is an absolute beaut." Caine wanted to laugh. Not to be rude, but because all a guy had to do was ask. Guitar wasn't something Caine was interested in learning. The effort that it would take to learn was a little too much for him, after all, all of his effort goes towards the ranch.

That's when Caine got an idea. The melodic man seemed to be a good guy. A ride wouldn't hurt. Abel was always up for a ride. Caine just had to feed him a treat later for being such a good horse. Caine unties Abel from the post. A smile reaches his face as Caine climbs onto Abel's back. The words flow easily, "We've got a deal, bud." Caine reaches to help the melodic guy up onto his horse. The Winchester boy's hands are on the reigns and Abel is waiting to go. Caine grabs the melodic guy's arms and puts them on his waist and says "Better hold on tight, bud. Don't want you falling off now do we?" Caine whips the reigns down and Abel is off into a gallop. The hooves like a music to Caine's ears. The Winchester boy stays quiet for a bit and then introduces himself, "By the way, I'm Caine. Caine Winchester."
