Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky. My eyes focused on the stars in the sky. Little white spots twinkling brightly throughout the night. I remember many nights back home in district eleven lying on the ground with Tobias and everyone else by my side as we stared at the stars. Their presence mesmerizes me even to this day. Sometimes it was hard to see the stars. Especially during the harvest time when all the bright lights were out so the workers could see as they harvested the crops. But now that I'm standing on the train heading off towards the Capitol, I can see them plain as day for the most part.

Every now and then my eyes wander from the stars to the trees as they fly by. It seems like the day as flown by. One minute I was home making plant soup for breakfast. The next I was getting ready for the reaping, and after that it's all a blur. Standing in the justice building saying goodbye to Tobias, Ikaia, Laia, Kyoshi, and Hachiro. Kirito came to see me too, and I'm grateful for that because he told me many things. He talked about one of the great tributes I remember seeing in his games. Elya Johnwayne. Just thinking her name terrifies me, but Kirito knew her on an entirely different level. And to know that Kirito is afraid too helps me to relax a little. But it doesn't make things any easier.

I love Kirito more than words can describe; I love my entire family more than anything in the world, and to see them hurting the way I have breaks me. I know Kirito would go to the end of the world for me and back, but it seems in this situation he's powerless. Snow wants to see him hurt, and will probably make sure my death is one of most horrendous to see. But I shake my head. I promised him I wouldn't think like this. No matter what my future may hold, I have to find some joy in the world. Something that'll keep me going even in the midst of this storm.

Resting my forehead against the window, I can feel myself growing lonely and hopeless with each passing second, and regret swims through my veins. I feel bad for Carrita. I feel bad knowing that Kirito is going to focus a lot of his attention on me. We both deserve the help, but I think it's expected. I believe that Kirito has a good heart inside of him. A soft sigh escapes my lips as I close my eyes pretending I'm a child back in district eleven running through the fields with my arms spread wide before I injured my leg. A young, innocent boy remains hidden inside of me, and I hope I don't lose it.

The night was long and although the sun rose through the harsh sky all that greeted Kirito's eyes was darkness. Darkness rolled like blood through Kirito's heart yet some how he had not yet slipped into the cell he had inhabited once before. Despite the devilish screams of Kiri and the never ending hunger for revenge, Kirito was still in control for the time being. However even Kirito was beginning to wonder just how long his fragile body could withstand the coming storm. Already once Kirito had faced the wrath of darkness' hurricane and now another one was forming on the bay of Kirito's existence. Unlike a real storm though Kirito could not run or hide from it. Kiri had Kirito pinned exactly where he wanted him and now all Kirito could do was hope to survive the lashings he would receive.

A blinding light ignited the dining car as the train glided swiftly past a check point. Outside the window Kirito stood leaning against, he could see all the stars that were once the only things that never changed in his life. Now Kirito had more constants than he ever would have foreseen when he spent freezing winters with little more than his skin wrapped around him. Now Kirito had Katelyn and in time he prayed he would have Harbinger as well. Yet more things than not seemed to be as alterable as always. Sure Kirito was grateful that he no longer had to fear for Katelyn or Harbinger's lives, but now he had to worry about Iain's and Carrita's as well. If there was one sickening truth Kirito was learning to accept through the lessons of life was that to Snow anyone and everyone was expendable. Just the thought of Snow sent rage racing through Kirito's veins. All the snowy serpent had to do was whisper Iain's and Carrita's names and they were ushered to nearly certain death without a single question muttered.

A loud slam suddenly thunder through the deserted train car as Kirito's open palms slammed against the window sill. So much of Kirito wanted to blame himself for the horrors his family was facing but in the end he couldn't. Kirito knew deep within his soul that Harbinger was worth saving and so was Annora. Kirito didn't regret watching Harbinger be crowned nor would he have regretted Annora's ceremony. They each were given the opportunity to live and each of them deserved it just as both Iain and Carrita do now. Kirito knew that Snow might believe he has condemned District Eleven to death but Kirito still had faith, he still had the will to fight off the growing toxins within him. As long as their was hope that one of them could live, especially if Iain could, Kirito would hold on. If they were to perish then Kirito wasn't sure what would happen, all he could predict is that more than just Kirito would be in control if not entirely Kiri. Kirito was standing on a ledge with one major rope and one slightly smaller rope suspending him over the chasm he had fallen into once before. Yet this time Kirito feared if he would be able return from his fall.

A slight noise just a room over pricked Kirito's attention and he wasted no time to walk down the hall. When Kirito finally found the source of the light creak he discovered Iain with his eyes trained out the window just as Kirito was earlier. Memories spurred in Kirito's war filled mind as he recalled the empty feeling that hung in his stomach during his own first ride to the Capitol. Kirito was far from surprised that Iain was scared, but still Kirito hoped he had taken his advice from the Justice Building close to his heart. However Kirito figured that only time would prove that, even if the time they had remaining was limited.

"Hey." Kirito said softly as he knocked lightly on Iain's door frame. "Mind if I come in?" Kirito asked as he looked at the sheer sadness that sprung through Iain's eyes like an ocean even if no tears were falling. "I remember my first ride to the Capitol, talk about scary shit. But believe me its even more frightening when you first arrive and realize up close and personal just the kind of outfits people in the Capitol wear, talk about some freaks." Kirito finished with a lighter tone in hopes of at least providing Iain with some distraction from the worst experience in his entire life that now loomed like a shadow over them both.

The happiness is quickly replaced with extreme sorrow as I realize I probably won't ever see district eleven again. Pure joy and innocence has been replaced by the reality of the corrupt world scattering shards of broken pieces throughout my entire body. How can anyone find happiness going to the Capitol to compete in a giant death match? It doesn't exist anymore. Happiness is gone trapped in a world that existed long before Panem. I haven't felt happiness since Kirito was reaped for the games. Yeah, I'm glad he was able to return home to us all alive. But with his victory came a huge price. How can I smile for the people? How can I find something strong enough to drive me to kill someone? Many questions race through my fragile mind as I focus my eyes on the stars above. Right now the world is calm around me. All that could possibly go wrong has, and now I'm stuck on a train heading towards the Capitol. Yet nothing could take away the horrible thoughts soaring through my brain as my heart taps rapidly against my chest wall. No tears fall down my face as I keep my face plastered against the window.

"Hey, mind if I come in?" His voice rings through my ears, and I don't even have to turn around to know that Kirito is standing right behind me. Taking a deep breath, I try to force myself to put on a smile before turning to face him. Shrugging my shoulders, I motion for him to come in. "Yeah, come on in." Facing his is hard knowing that my entire life could come to an end in just a few short days, but I want to spend a lot of time with him to make sure he's going to be fine. I need him to be strong no matter what happens. Kirito is a fighter, and he always has been. Yet neither of us imagined this happening. Although I notice the huge difference in him, I'm glad I get to see this side of him. It's like he always know what to say and what to do. He's a smart man, and I'm proud of him - no matter what happens I'll always be proud of him. I just hope he can say the same for me. A soft chuckle escapes my lips as he talks about his first ride to the Capitol and how frightening it is to arrive seeing the strangely dressed people. "Talk about freaks."

Walking over to the small table in the room, I scoot myself up a chair before scooting one up for Kirito. "What exactly do they wear?" I ask quietly before taking a seat and motioning for him to sit down next to me. "It can't be that freaky." I add with a smile. It's not much, but he's doing everything he can for me. I can't imagine what this was like for him traveling with just him and Katelyn. And I don't want to imagine it. I don't want to imagine the amount of pain he went through in order to survive; soon I will know, and I'll be able to stand in his shoes like I've wanted to for the last couple years, but this isn't what I had in mind when I decided to become brave like him. But I'm not brave, and I'm not strong. I'm nothing compared to him.

Then a thought hits me. What if they make me look like a freak?. Surely they wouldn't do that to me, but what happens once I reach the Capitol is beyond my wildest imagination because I know I'm at the mercy of the people around me.
