Appearance:
Jonathan is healthy and athletic. He loves to swim, which keeps him in strong. When he's especially happy or excited, he has a huge, bright, toothy smile with slightly crooked teeth. He has straight blond hair. His small, blue eyes have a touch of grey in them, but look a heartier, more intense shade of blue in the sunlight, and Jonathan spends a lot of time in the sunlight. His ears are on the large side. His nose is small and stubby. He has pale eyebrows, but they still add a lot of expression to his face when he's angry, somehow making his eyes look much darker when they're furrowed. His cheeks are still slightly chubby, and his face is ovular.
Jonathan is a little bit short for an almost-twelve-year old. That's the only thing he's self conscious about. He has slightly rounded shoulders, and his build is slight and thin. Other than in his cheeks, there's barely a scrap of fat on him. Instead his arms are just barely starting to gain a little bit of shape instead of being the sticks they've been for most of his life. This is because of his swimming and constant activity.
His knobbly knees and elbows are often scabbed, and he likes to be barefoot, so the bottoms of his large feet are tough and callused.
He pays little to no attention to what he wears, and if it wasn't for his family, his clothes would be mismatched, clashing terribly and carelessly, more than half of the time. He doesn't like haircuts and avoids them, so his hair is often in need of one.
Personality:
Jonathan is happy and oblivious to most of the troubles of the world. He isn't interested in or worried about the Games. Though he's naturally sympathetic and caring, growing up watching the Games has somewhat desensitized him to violence. He feels invincible and immortal, because nothing very bad has ever happened to him, and because he can do most things that he puts his mind to. His father's sickness is one of the only things he ever worries about, unless his older sister seems upset or worried.
He's curious. He's cheerful. He gets restless if he has to sit still and is always running off, looking for adventure or something fun and interesting to do. He loves to swim and does it as often as he can. He loves to go to the ocean with his sister.
He's free spirited and hates to be limited. He rarely listens to anyone except for his older sister. He dislikes school, because he's smarter than most of the kids in his class and gets bored easily. The class moves too slowly for him. He alternates between messing around and being a bit of a troublemaker because of boredom, and trying to make it more interesting for himself by getting as involved in the class as he can, peppering the teacher with questions, and raising his hand to answer all of the ones that he knows-- which is often all of them.
He's like a sponge, soaking up all of the information he can get, and he's very impressionable. Because of this, he believes in the Capitol's propaganda and has no thoughts of anger or rebellion or bitterness towards the Capitol.
Partly because of how he either seems nerdy or obnoxious or both in school, and partly because he's so good at everything he tries, he has few friends, and no good close ones.
He spends more time than most boys do with his older sister, Tessa. He would almost follow her around everywhere if she let him, and values her opinion above everyone else's. He thinks she's the smartest and nicest person he knows. He's generally very sweet and friendly, but he'll be completely cold towards anyone if he thinks they've mistreated Tessa.

As soon as he was old enough to do it, he would follow her everywhere, getting upset when he couldn't follow her to school. Some of his best memories are of when he would go with her to the beach. It's still one of his favorite things to do.
Starting school was not a happy time for him. He had been used to loads of free time, wandering and finding interesting things and learning on his own and trying to go on "adventures." He ended up getting lost several times because of his adventures, and many times coming home dirty and happy. So when school started, he felt very limited, because he had lest time to do what he wanted, but also because he found school slow and boring.
He ended up getting into trouble with teacher's in school, because being bored makes him restless and obnoxious, even though he doesn't mean any harm. He also ended up getting into fights with the other kids a few times.

However, he has never believed that anything really bad could happen to him, or his family. He's sure his father will get better soon.
