Frozen figures sway within the shadows of loss as time toils endlessly on. Days become nothing more than sentences of solitude away from the glinting light of society. Surrounding Kirito were monsters obsessed with torture and stardom. In times of turmoil and disarray, both Katelyn and Harbinger were swept out into the sinister society's sea of media. While blood bubbled upon chilling stones in a distant hellish land, Katelyn was paraded around like meat for wolves in another. Two tributes Kirito willed to help now lay dead within a metal morgue just floors below where Kirito now resided. Their phantom faces flicker within every mirror and every drop of water. Beside them Iain and Carrita, not to mention the Casanova Annora herself. Failed faces fighting for Kirito's attention all while he stayed within the sanctions of the District Eleven floor. If this wasn't the purest form of loneliness alongside a single soul wandering a dead arena, Kirito wasn't sure what was.

    Pen scribbled papers lay in chaos across a glass table's surface. Numbers for sponsorship now uselessly existing upon a calculated piece of parchment. Half written letters for grieving members of the Holbrook family stare blankly towards the ceiling. Not a single word relating to the Rhodes is even written. Ashes line the fireplace signifying the burning of them just days ago. Not a single reason to write a letter for the Rhodes was present, everything Kirito could write would be said in person. Three years, one victor, five deaths. The ever aching words of Key Ward dauntingly return to Kirito's sullen mind all too often. None of it ever added up. Twenty three doesn't equal one, just as it never will. Broken systems of blood govern the lands yet everyone continues to play by the same rules. Fear was a sedative to the people, but for Kirito and surely Harbinger along with Katelyn, it had long worn off.

    Tender tapping rose from Kirito's fingers as the sound filled the singularly occupied floor. It was the Seventh day of the Games and Kirito hadn't ventured out of the floor since the Third. He hadn't spoken to a single interviewer or media member. Aside from dining late in the night few phrases had been exchanged between the trio of victors either. Katelyn was exhausted, Harbinger was coping, and Kirito was just there. Every part of Kirito hated the rules binding him to this City for any longer than he had to be. It was sickeningly ironic to think just a year earlier Kirito chose to stay when the trains departed. It wasn't that Kirito didn't care for the fallen, he did. It wasn't that he didn't care for Harbinger's health, he did. To Kirito, everything just feels like it gets better when they get back home. Not to mention, he had someone truly waiting for his return this time around.

    Longing ripples through Kirito's chest just thinking about her. Her vibrant eyes and angel lit smile. Her words smoother than the sea from which they met. Love was not something Kirito was expert in. For years his closest friend, his own twin, all but hated him. Relationships were an ocean filled with rocks for Kirito. Yet now he had two secrets hidden within his home because one had chosen to follow him. Miles upon miles away one Kirito considered to be his anchor waited without a boat to keep still. Waited while she watched snippits of him flash upon a screen. Kirito longed for any piece of her. To hear her euphoric voice or to feel her silken touch upon his graveled skin. However, he wondered if she longed for him the same. If she missed having him by her side as much as her devoid presences tortured him so.

    In an instant it all becomes too much, the need for her is overwhelming. Kirito suddenly feels as though he needs her more than the Earth needs the Moon. Motion ignited within his once stagnant muscles. Once twiddling fingers wrap around the base of smooth grey phone. Beeps bubble from the device's speaker as Kirito dials his own house's number. Anticipation causes his body to shudder with every ring he hears. Worry wrangles Kirito's lunges as doubt of an answer becomes all too much of a possibility. Then luckily a voice ends the ringing. A weak laugh filled with relief escapes Kirito's lips while his Mother's voice reaches his synthetic ear.

    "Hey Ma, yeah I'm doing fine. It's been a bit rough with everything considering all the paperwork falls on me while Katelyn and Harbinger are on that Capitol show. Yeah I'm ready to be home too. Ya know Ma, is she around right now, ya know, is she around? I would love to talk to her." Caution lingers within Kirito's tone as he emphasizes his wish to speak to Oasis. Kirito was more than certain that every call from this building was highly monitored, and with that being the case he couldn't dare release any information that might give their secrets away.

    The other end of the line ruffles for a moment as a new voice suddenly fills not just the phone but Kirito's entire body. In one simple hello she sets flames to Kirito's body, thawing it from the icy loneliness he had been submerged within. However, as much as Kirito wishes to display clearly his joy he forces caution back to the front of his priorities hoping she catches on to his game.

    "Hi Lavendar, I hope everything at the house is being kept clean and in order. I'm sure it is considering you have been such an amazing addition to the house. In fact, I have to say I miss having you around quite a lot." Kirito feels his heart lurching with every word he speaks but he prays that his true message shines through to her through the phone. Oasis meant the world to him and he would do anything for her and her brother. They were precious to him now, and all he could do was hope she felt that way.

Writing Thinks "Says"

Hearts beat to the tone of the world around her. Lovers walking in the square. Children running past houses, group by group. Mothers in the kitchens cooking. Fathers reading the paper after a huge harvest of the day. All of their heartbeats combine into what is know as District Eleven. Something so magnificent that Oasis wanted to experience so terribly, but she knew the consequences of doing so would be tremendous. Instead of feeling the gentle breeze in her hair, she would rush around the house doing whatever chores that Ma Miristioma wanted her to accomplish. A smile upon her face as she ties back her hair to prepare the dinner that they all decided to make.

Unfortunately, she couldn't help but think about Kirito as she began cutting up some vegetables. The memory of his smile when she appeared at his door. It felt like it had been years since she had seen him last. Ikaia came over a few times since she had met him. The twins always creating something a little more fun than the regular days of doing the typical daily chores. Kirito was a blessing in her life and she wanted it to stay that way. Without him, there wouldn't be anywhere she would have been safe. Her father was on the verge of finding her in District Six. Rafe had told her this before they left. Now she was free to soar among the District Eleven people. Kirito saved her from unimaginable horrors that would have torn the threads that held her together in half.

All she ever needed was someone to take her away from it all and to treat her like the girl that she deserved to be treated like. Her chopping became rather quick and stronger, memories of the bruises upon her body, the screams of her father to stop, the pain of his fists as they landed upon her body. Her breath begins to heave, the knife in her hand drops, as does her level of calmness. Another attack from thinking about her father too much. Rafe was there within an instant. A water cloth in his hand, a worried look upon his face. Oasis felt like the world was pushing down on her chest, the memories just brought more tears to her eyes, but Rafe's calm voice broke through it all, "Can I help you Oasis? What do you need?"

The finger on her hand points to the couch for a quick second. Luckily none of the Miristioma's are around and can see her in the state of her panic. Rafe soothingly rubs the damp rag on her forehead and soon enough she begins to breathe normally. Rafe gives her a look that she's known all too well. Her voice is staggering, but she speaks, "I remembered asshole of the year again. Sorry..." Rafe shakes his head letting her know that it was okay. A quick hug and Oasis was up again, working on dinner for them all.

Her life before Kirito wasn't as pretty as she had wished for it to be. She could kick anyone's butt in a fight, but ever since the fateful night her father started hitting her, she was never the same. Only a fraction of the girl that she had been before stood within the body she had known as home for a long while then. The strong girl that once existed, no longer does, all that's left is Oasis, the girl who had been barely living, until Rafe got enough money to get them out of the home. That's when her father began to hunt her down like a wild animal. They escaped him though, like they did every time.

The beeping of some appliance shook her out of her trance of remembering terrible days. Her focus needed to disappear from the past and focus on the future that she wanted with Kirito. One of the only men to truly make her heartbeat in the best way possible. Weightlessness is how she'd describe how it felt to be with Kirito. Everything around her was peaceful, but in the world full of chaos anything could happen. As she sat on a couch, relaxing for only a second, the sound of a ringing went through the house.

The sound echoes through the house only for a moment. Mrs. Miristioma was the one to answer it in her lovely tone of excitement. From the way that she could see Mrs. Miristioma, she would have guessed it was Kirito calling. She always worried about her two boys, just like her own mother had with Oasis and Rafe. Happiness lodged itself in her skin as she watched Mrs. Miristioma talk to her son. That's when it went silent for a second, a second too long. Worry upon her face as she turns to see Mrs. Miristioma put a hand on the bottom of the phone. Her voice is sweet like it always is, "He wants to talk to you."

Her heart flutters to life just like it did on the ocean when his hands guided her. The air in her lungs feels fresh and a happiness of the life before her hits hard. A smile upon her face as she grabs the phone kindly from Mrs. Miristioma, who flees from the scene giving the two of them privacy. Her voice comes through finally, "Hello." The image in her head, imagining him standing there before her. A smile upon his face as she greeted him with a hello. Kirito was a serious man in every way, but when she got to see the little instances of him letting go, those were her favorite moments. The little amount of joy that escaped through his cracked exterior. Oasis and Kirito both had problems, but they'd work together to fix them, she knew they would.

Caution was something she was used to with Kirito. The man was cautious for them both. If they were caught, they'd both be punished severely one way or another. Her tongue would most likely get cut out, forcing her to be a mute for the rest of her life. Neither of them wanted that. No one wanted to see the broken girl break even more. The glass was already broken, but it'd be fixed like it was brand new. His voice is filled with a certain tone of happiness, but the name was different and she knew why. They weren't alone. Someone could be listening to their every word. His words flow gently, tickling her insides with a flame.

"Hi Lavendar, I hope everything at the house is being kept clean and in order. I'm sure it is considering you have been such an amazing addition to the house. In fact, I have to say I miss having you around quite a lot." Her body threatens to giggle at the name, but it fit better than Oasis did. Oasis was the girl who was abused, Lavendar was the girl Kirito fell in love with. Nothing would change that, once Kirito knew of her past, he'd either run or help. One way or another, she wasn't ready for either of those options. The words he spoke of makes her cheeks redden just slightly. An amazing addition to the house and he missed her. Kirito Miristioma missed her. A blush was very clear on her cheeks. A quick look around her to check and make sure no one can see her blushing over the phone.

Her voice is calm like it always is when she spoke to him. Her heart pounds against her chest like a drum being played. Her hand twists a lock of hair as she sits down in a chair. The cord pulling with the phone. "Kirito! I didn't expect you to call so soon. The house is in tip-top shape. Awe, you're such a sweetheart Kirito. I like that about you. I miss having you around too. Ikaia has come by a few times, so it's not so lonely." A smile pulls at her face. Oasis may have been broken from her past, but her future looked brighter than it did before. A woman with a broken past, but a beautiful future. She couldn't wait for him to get back, to experience more of their future together.

All the sorrow which just moments earlier filled Kirito's body dissipates at the sound of her soft words. Memories of sandy evenings spent washed away under the twinkling light of a thousand stars all too easily arises. Her beauty too bright the stars were unable to outshine her as they danced slowly with hands interwoven. Around them only the song of the siren shores sprung forth from the babbling sea of District Four. In a single night gravity shifted causing her to become the center of his universe. Her eyes so iridescent with the colors of strength and elegance he became lost within their vast galaxies. One fateful journey into a salt stained world had altered the aliment of the emotions which followed so grimly through Kirito's veins. Once he was a ship washed away upon rocky seas as a storm bellowed down from hidden heavens. Now with her his ship was stronger, and it sailed seas where the rocks could be avoided or survived. No longer did the ever haunting decision of his life seem so black and white; did life or death remain as all that mattered within his tortured existence.

Before Oasis there was darkness. Darkness dripped in the blood of broken bodies and displayed by the birth of a demon. There were phantom faces clouding Kirito's world in the living with their songs of the slaughtered. Even now their songs still reach his ears, but Oasis' light has formed a veil of slight protection. Before her, Kirito was nothing more than a broken boy who baffled odds in a wretched war game. A boy tethered to the shifting sorrow of the other side by twenty three children all worthy of his place in society. A boy who had been beaten by his own insidious self arisen from a bath of boiling blood. In a long lost time Kirito was only a boy filled with the lightest hues of innocence. His hands brought healing to those in need and his life brought assistance to his struggling family. But that lighter version of himself has been eternally scrubbed into submission by sins. In the world of today, he was a famed murdered alluded to have a psychopathic darkness trapped within himself, and it was true.

Over the years following the showering of sorrowful wealth upon Kirito's violent victory, he had reached the apex of Panem stardom. Yet beneath its beaming spotlights and away from the thousands of children constantly running to meet him, he was just a cursed child. A curse he had spun upon his skin when he first sent Rowan Combe to her demise. The memory of Kirito's fall was one he recalled too many times to count. Even now he remains with questions never to be answered and griefs never to be forgiven. Twenty three lives for his own was not a weight he could just shove off. Their blood was not just a stain he could wash out with time. They all had names as they all had lives. Rhyme Morales, Circe Lyon, Elya Johnwayne, Nat Krigel, Orion Hammerfell, Kiena Ward, Wyatt O'Connor, Sue Tate, Olivia Revenue, Imp Stole, along with many others. Others only adding to the list in the form of Kirito's newest failures. Annora, Iain, Carrita, Weaver, Iona...

Murder and death was what had come to define who Kirito was. All his successes and his failures to the world revolved solely upon who lived and who died. Kirito felt as though he sat as a grim reaper sending souls slithering into a sadistic abyss. His own twin had turned away from him leaving him with blood born wealth yet only the accepting family members of his to share it with. In fact, as the stone shackles of reality hung heavy upon him Kirito felt weaker than a grain of sand within a storming sea. Yet she was able to reverse it all, to draw him back out of the abyss by shedding new light into a world he deemed dark long before her arrival.

Instead of lingering lost in the rotting world of the past while letting the venom of Snow fill him to the brim, Kirito could see a future with her. Wrinkled hands interlocked as a gentle breeze scuttles through their grayed hair. Voices of happy and vibrant children they brought up fill the background as they walk into the scene. Their bodies are young and unscathed with his once black hair upon their heads and her breath taking eyes in their skulls. For the first time since being pulled from the muddy earth of a time forgotten waste land, Kirito looked forward to time elapsing. Before his departure in the arena Kirito was certain he wasn't ready to return to the world, but with her now in his life he was.

A smile stays firm upon his cheeks while his fingers twiddled with the tassels of his black hoodie. A gentle patter of excitement repeatedly generates from the centers of his jittery sock covered feet. Here he was miles away from her dressed in a sweat shirt, sweat pants, and socks where he was certain she was clothed in a breath taking summer outfit. Just envisioning her made the urge to hold her soft skin again within his roughened arms. Luckily his moment to voice his very thoughts arrives as she finishes returning his hidden compliments.

"Oh that's good to hear, I was worried you might be enjoying yourself better without me around. You know having the house all but to yourself aside from Ma and your brother." Kirito starts off slyly as his voice again travels to out to her waiting ear. "Also I am beyond happy to hear Ikaia has been stopping by every often however, I sure hope he doesn't steal you away to his own house from mine. I don't know if I could bear that." A moment of stoppage is spent with light laughter as Kirito continues on infatuated with feeling so much closer to her than he had only minutes prior to the call. "You know I have plans with Katelyn to go jewelry shopping tomorrow. I was planning on picking up Ma something nice but I am more than certain I will find something for you as well. I just hope that's not too inappropriate, is it?"

The moment Kirito stops talking a smile returns to his face as anticipation for her response fuels his cells. Oasis was his anchor, his center, his everything. She might be broken in ways he still was yet to learn, yet no matter how many pieces she was in he would move the stars to hold her together.

Writing Thinks "Says"

Hearts intertwine as his voice comes through the device. The pounding in her chest is calm, yet erratic. Her body feels like it's burning inside out, the red of her cheeks fading slowly, leaving a light pink upon her skin. Kirito Miristioma did so much to her being, that she could never truly realize the effects. Her heart pounds against her chest, cheeks flushed from hearing his voice, her hand clamming up with sweat. Kirito set her insides aflame unlike any man before. It was truly something that she never expected to see happen to her.

Ever since Kirito stepped into her life, she's been taking more risks than she had ever, just for him. All of it was for him, even if she believed it to be for herself, but inside she knew that she did it for him. The boy that she had seen in District Four was broken and she couldn't let him break like so many people had before her, including herself. Rafe broke multiple times in the course of their life. The day when their mother died, Oasis remembers having to hold her little brother as their father screamed at no one in particular. Rafe broke a second time when Sonja Arcopello was killed by Potato Earnest. That day, Rafe was administered to a psych ward that Sonja had once been in. Every day Oasis had visited. Every day, she made him lunch. Every day, she told him that he needed to live for her. She still had nightmares about those days. Waking up to find out that Rafe tried something so terrible.

Kirito Miristioma, had done more than just steal her heart within the time of being in District Four. Kirito had saved not only herself, but also Rafael Tuson from the terrors that live behind in District Six. Terrors that'd kiss their dreams upon sleeping every night. Oasis could imagine the nightmares that Kirito kept from his past, everyone had something they couldn't forget. Baggage that they had to carry throughout their pathetic existences, but they could help one another carry all the baggage. As she sits with him on the phone, miles and miles apart, she can see him so vividly. The Kirito Miristioma she fell in love with, all of his flaws and blessings shining to show the man that he was.

Inside of her, she can see them, their future. Kids born from her body, running around with the last name Miristioma attached to their names. Kids were always something she thought, she'd never want after spending time as a nurse while Rafe had been mentally incapable of doing his job. Kids would run around the hospital, bugging patients with their insistent whining, but every time she asked a patient if the kids were bothersome, their answers were the same. The kids bring life to the hospital, and it's fantastic, so no my dear. She never wanted one, until she met Kirito. She could see their future so vividly. Oasis cooking meal upon meal for her little rascals, while Kirito would play with his children. The vision of their future was vivid in her head exciting her, yet scaring her. Never before had she imagined anything with anyone. Oasis was falling, harder than she expected.

His voice catches her off guard for a second, her mind pondering their future together too much. "Oh that's good to hear, I was worried you might be enjoying yourself better without me around. You know having the house all but to yourself aside from Ma and your brother." Oasis' laugh echoes through the phone for a second. She was enjoying herself, but she'd enjoy it more if he was there. Cuddling with her upon the couch that she sat on, whispering sweet nothings into her ear. "Also I am beyond happy to hear Ikaia has been stopping by every often however, I sure hope he doesn't steal you away to his own house from mine. I don't know if I could bear that." A laugh echoes from her body, as she knows, that Ikaia would never be able to steal her away from Kirito. Ikaia was more of a In Law to her than anything else, even though Kirito and her weren't married yet even, but she wanted to mean something more to the family than just Kirito's secret. She would always be a part of the Miristioma's even if she never planned to be. Somehow the Universe would have brought her to them because this was her fate. To be with Kirito, even if she truly didn't understand how she felt internally, all she knew was that he meant the world to her. And she would follow him to hell and back if she had to.

"You know I have plans with Katelyn to go jewelry shopping tomorrow. I was planning on picking up Ma something nice but I am more than certain I will find something for you as well. I just hope that's not too inappropriate, is it?" The words makes her heart pound even more harder. Her mother used to tell her when she was a little girl that she'd find some guy who would give her the world. Jewels and fancy golds upon her body, but Oasis never truly believed that. She was always a simple woman when it came to luxuries, never had she ever wanted jewels. The part of it that really freaked Oasis out was the fact that Kirito was going to a jewelry store, they were so rare across all of Panem, that she never thought of it. Most of the jewelry that the district people had were heirlooms with a past so great that she could never imagine taking it from someone else, but she had done what she had to back then.

Oasis' smiled even though Kirito couldn't see the smile. Kirito was going out to look for something for her, even though she truly didn't mind either way, as long as he came home to her. Her voice ever so graceful spoke through the technological contraption, "It's not inappropriate, though, I don't need any fancy jewels. As long as you come home safe and sound, that's enough for me. Though, that sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy spending time with Katelyn. She's gonna need you more than ever from what I can see on the television. I miss you Kirito. No one can replace you." Her cheeks turn pink as she blushes, praying that she wasn't too serious, but just cheerful enough. Everything she said was true. If Kirito came home safe and sound, she'd be happy. She didn't need anything fancy as long as she had Kirito, she'd be happy.

She only turned on the television once to see what the media had done to both Katelyn and Harbinger. As soon as she had seen it, she shut it off. At first it made her question everything she knew about Katelyn and Navya, but she knew the capitol better than many of the regular people in the Districts. They were the monsters that created the pain and suffering of everyone. The masterminds to the reasons why her nightmares of Rafe exist. The reason, Kirito is broken from his games. The reason Katelyn, Harbinger, and Kirito had innocent blood upon their hands, but they were real people with real problems. The capitol couldn't stop her from fixing them all when she could try. Oasis was a nurse, this was her job, and she'd help with everything within her.

On the phone, she can feel their presence with them. A stalker of sorts listening to their entire conversation, but it didn't matter. They couldn't do anything to hurt either of them, or the districts would break into chaos. As she spoke softly to Kirito again, she felt a fire within her that hadn't been there since she was little, dreaming big. "Also, what's your favorite meal? I'd love to cook something for you when you get back? For everything you've helped me with. It's the least I could do." A smile upon her rosy cheeks. Heart pounding as they intertwine with everything they feel. Oasis was going to prepare something delicious for Kirito because he deserved the world. Everything he is and everything he will be, makes her want to shower him with things, as he wants to shower her with things. Kirito Miristioma had stolen her heart, even if she already gave it to him when they first met.

     Her words bring down Kirito’s walls in seconds as her phrases leave him defenseless. Every sound which slips like liquid gold through the speaker sends flames flickering over his skin. Just by speaking she reveals the revelation of his greatest weakness, and a heart beating of love was the greatest weakness of all. Silence shines not a slight candle to her brilliance, but instead plunges Kirito into agnst. She was a drug in which he had indulged deeply, a drug his very veins now needed in order to flow. When she was near, in skin or in spirit, electricity sparked through his every nerve and every cell. He was the storm and she was its undying pulsating heart.

    Images of fall forged fields laced in dripping scarlet leaves float to Kirito’s mind all too easily with the touch of her tongue through the phone. Sensations of seeping warmth from interwoven hands locked together amidst an Autumn Sun’s final light creep through Kirito’s lonesome skin. Visions of her laugh leaping upon wandering winds whipped with the warmth of a dying summer reminds Kirito of the luck he has been veiled within. A summer spent by her side left him entranced with her every action. Infused within a mist of happiness he had long saw as impossible to achieve. A month away has left him cold and stiff without her heart to force his own to beat. Now his chest was returning to life just from a touch of her song, a song Kirito’s heart was tuned to.

    Futures of fallen figures fade to dust as possibilities filled with long winters wrapped together tightly by a flickering fire replace them. Trials are something all people face, everyone person's life is their own to navigate. Some find the seas they guide their ships through open and filled with countless directions to turn towards. Other find their own seas rocky and forcing them down a single dangerous route. Kirito’s seas had never been calm. Storms broke his masts and disease slaughtered his crew. Yet by some chance, the golden grace of the bloodied gem’s crown fell upon the skull of a Miristioma. A Miristioma with a severe case of sinful love and a body beaten by time and sorrow. One far from worthy of a crown upon his head.

    But now that world was falling to the past. The never ending night was turning once more to day as a new Sun was arising upon its horizon. An angel had been brought forth from a foreign land whose own warrior had been cut down by Kirito’s blade. Her light and radiance was bringing upon a new man, killing a broken boy. Once a wild wolf now tamed by the calmest of vocal remedies and the steadiest of soft hands. Oasis was Kirito’s Oasis within a desert of death, and for once he felt as though he could rest.

    So caught up within the mysteries of his mind Kirito nearly misses the angel’s voice as she sings through the speaker. Instantly a smile beams upon Kirito’s cheeks as he reclines into a seat. “Surprise me, whatever you make me will become my new favorite, so don’t mess it up.” Kirito says softly with a light laugh before continuing on. “Oh! But please make sure to prepare my picnic basket for my trip out into the fields to watch the stars when I get home. I have a special guest I am sure you know of who I am hoping will join me beneath them.”
