P L O T

"You know they're coming for us, for all of us." 

Two figures sit drowning in shadows, their forms rigid and composed, cold as ice underneath the moonlight that snakes through the windows. One is dressed formal, black suit melting into the darkness that seeps from the walls. He lets his words hang in the air for a moment, before removing a pack of cigarettes from his suit pocket, slender fingers removing one and placing it between his teeth. And then, he offers the box to the aged woman sitting across from him. 

As always, she silently refuses. 

"This is your fault, James. Your family came with poison in their blood, and now it ruins us."

The man smirks, then shrugs, rising from his seat and moving to the window. His blue eyes survey the district before him for a moment, twinkling in the night. He frowns, before shaking his head. 

"No. No this isn't our fault, grannie. At least, it isn't now. Your families willing involvement with the disposal makes you just as guilty." 

The woman clenches her fist, eyes flaring with anger. 

"You forced our hand, you ignorant bastard-" 

The man breathes out, letting his smoke dissipate before moving back around the desk, his eyes drilling holes into the woman. 

"Oh, boo hoo hoo. Listen honey, I don't care how you feel about our family, I don't care about your family." 

The woman stares calmly, her anger disappearing and her eyes lowering. The man continues, removing a wad of cash from his pocket and throwing it down, pointing to it as he speaks.

"But I do care about continuing to bring this in. This right here is more than your patients could pay you in their lifetimes, and with the Peacekeepers on our tails we have a solid chance of it all blowing up. My family has gone from rags to riches, I have no intention of going back to the former." 

He nods to the cash, pushing it forwards towards the woman. She does not take it, but her expression softens, a frown dancing across her face before she shakes her head, silently moving towards the window herself. The man turns towards the door, snuffing his cigarette out on the way.

"So pray to the gods you worship, and I'll be here making sure your beliefs don't get us all killed." 

The door slams, and the woman returns to her seat. Outside, a storm brews, rain beginning to patter against the windowsill. She stares, watching the raindrops run their course down the glass. Perhaps, this is a sign. 

Perhaps, this is the end.

Hey everyone! Although this plot initially started out small, I wanted to expand it out and hopefully get some more people on board. As will be explained below (and a bit above), the plot follows two families that, under their circumstances, have merged into one. The Throe family is  a respected yet feared family of witch healers who have been helping the citizens of Three for years using natural remedies. The Willard family, if anything, is a parasite. Merging themselves with the Throe's due to a timely marriage, the Willard's have since begun a separate business of their own, the poisoning of patients under the Throe's care and the removal of organs from the body after burial. More will be fleshed out as this fills up, but I wanted to get a basic plot page down. Right now, I am looking for members of the Throe family, as the Willard family is supposed to be smaller and less known. Thank you for reading and applying! 

T H R O E

“Never put your faith in a Prince. When you require a miracle, trust in a Witch.”

It's said they were born from the flesh of the trees, cast down from God's ethereal light into the hells of the forests. Ashes to ashes, dust to coven, children with eyes like marbles believe that when the moon turns red and the trees part ways, you can see their shadows dancing amidst the fires they light, blurred and misshapen, cold and unforgiving. The Throe's are an ancient bloodline dating back to before the dark days, before the war and before Panem. A family stuck in ancient ways, the Throe's believed only in the ways of alternative medicine, believing the disadvantages of modern technology to be too unforgiving to trust. With the creation of the Districts, the Throe family's beliefs grew from natural to sinister, tales spun in the dark hearts of those who told it, monsters hiding in closets and under beds, worshipping forces that man was not supposed to mess with. Over time, the Throe's themselves began to believe the rumors, turning from normalcy to that of the shadows, remaining hidden amongst the stories yet easily findable when needed. The fear of their fellow citizens is what has isolated them over the years-


but still, that does not stop the desperate from coming to them in the dead of the night, begging for the wonders they can perform. It does not stop the Throe family from giving care to their fellow man, no matter how much they are scorned. 


And it does not stop the manipulative from turning that Throe reputation into their own gain.

WILLARD

“Murderers are not monsters, they're men. And that's the most frightening thing about them.”

Like the Throe family, the Willard family too has a bloodline that has rooted itself in the history of Panem. However, their reputation did not go from innocence to sinister, it is much the opposite. They are cold and calculating, sinister and distant. Yet, the true defining quality of the Willard family is that they are survivors. Though spotty and most likely fabricated, the Willard family story is that they were the owners of a successful funeral home business in the days before the war. When the war started, the family's business fell to pieces, forgotten amongst the destruction around them. They never fully recovered, and for years they remained starving and broke, cast to the shadows and forgotten. However, as the Willard family likes to say, miracles are made for monsters.

Josephine Throe, the brown eyed daughter of the witch family. Samuel Willard, the young and sweet-talking son of a dying family. Even now, some say the love interest and subsequent marriage was never real for Samuel, that he faked love to Josephine in order to bring power back to his family's name. Either way, the perfect timing of the marriage served its purpose, and the Willard family has become intertwined with the dark magic reputation of the Throe's, using their influence in the underground to further their gain in the most sinister of ways.

Unknown to the citizens who beg for the miracles of the witches, the Willard family has been poisoning the patients under the care of the Throe family. They are careful and precise, choosing only the most unknown of the citizens. The Throe family knows of this, but the Willard family is nothing if not manipulative, and have forced the hand of the Witch family, threatening their reputation and safety if they were to be exposed. As well, they have gone back to their roots, taking over the funeral arrangements of the dead. And, as it turns out, digging the bodies back up and removing their organs in the dead of night in order to sell them back to the black market for profit.

However, unlike the Throe family, they are not known for their talents. And they want to keep it that way.
