a joyous celebration {pherick oneshot}

His eyes were glued on the screen watching while his aunt and uncle sat on the couch begging for mercy. It was the fifth day of the arena, and Pherick couldn't help but wonder if his brother was capable of surviving any further. It was a miracle he had lasted so long, however, with a career following his every movements, Rolf was bound to die now that his career friend was dead. All his life, Pherick prayed for some sort of miracle anything that would give him the chance to free himself from the chains his family wrapped around him, and now the answer was finally there - the good child was finally meeting his match. His aunt and uncle screeched at the screen, and Pherick sat unmoving, the corners of his lips twisting into a genuine smile. Rolf was nothing more than a peasant lingering inside his castle. He should've tried to steal his glory away. If Pherick Parks was in the arena, he would've won, and now he was stuck watching his good for nothing brother destroy what little legacy was left.

Pherick looked away.

Honor fell with Chaske in the sixty-ninth hunger games with the ugly lady from district eleven cut down the only family Pherick cared for. She survived the hell, and he wanted nothing to do with her. One day she would fall victim of the world, and that was a moment Pherick looked forward to the most. But with the honor, he wondered if Rolf, the good child was capable of bringing it home.

His aunt's screech ripped through the air, and his gaze flickered towards the screen once more. Rolf had severed a hand, but it wasn't enough because Sacha swung with all his might, and the good child didn't move. A horrible crunch roared through his ears - a maniacal laugh ripped through his lips as Rolf fell towards the ground. A cannon sound, and Pherick couldn't help himself. His uncle was on his feet, Alfonso stood in the other room glaring, his aunt started bawling her eyes out -

"Would you just shut up?" The words infiltrated the air, and nobody moved until Benny cried out from the other room.

Five days.

Five days of hell, and he was still alive.

And now Rolf Parks was

It's a shame it was such a quick painless kill. Pherick wanted more. He wanted to see his brother suffer the way he did.

While tears fell from the eyes of his legal guardians, Pherick stood on his feet cackling. He knew his good for nothing brother wouldn't stand a chance when he found himself in the arena. Rolf was weak - he gave into everything, he followed orders. Rolf Parks was no leader, he was a follower who did what he could to get ahead. But it didn't work out for him this time. Allying with a career may have kept him alive, yet in the end when his brother was alone, Rolf failed.

"Pherick, what is wrong with you?" His uncle's words bellowed through his ears, and Pherick turned around. His eyes met the eyes of the man who challenged him. "Your brother just died, and you're laughing over it."

They didn't understand, and they'll never understand what it was like living at home with him. Every command mother and father gave him, he did even if it meant tormenting the others. Pherick didn't care for them, and watching them die the most horrific death only brought him a sense of joy. And now the good child who followed the orders finally joined his parents in the hell they deserve to live in. His family threw him away like a piece of trash, they left him to die buried beneath a sack of leaves, yet Pherick rose from the dead stronger than ever. Clapping his hands together, he watched as his family walked away. The violent sobs of his aunt echoed through his mind. The words his uncle said stayed right in front of him bouncing through the air, but none of it mattered because Rolf was dead. Pherick didn't care for him, he never did, and now he had the chance to finally prove it. If Chaske was here, he'd join in the joyous celebration.

But he's not.

Chaske died leaving him alone, and Pherick hated him for it.

If he had the ability to reach through the screen, Pherick would shake the hand of the man that made the kill, and he would congratulate him on ridding the world of a terrible person.

A heavy sigh left his chest - "Yes, uncle, I know my brother is dead." He rolled his eyes, and he looked away wiping the grin from his face, "But he deserved it, and if the kid from five makes it out alive, I'm going to shake his hand, and I'm going to say thank you." The corners of his lips twisted into a dark grin while his uncle froze in his tracks. Pherick didn't care anymore.

His brother was dead, and in the moment every wish had come true. Rolf wad dead. His family was distraught, but Pherick stood in the corner cackling.
