Six foot six and boulder-built, the eldest Stagg has two talents: making friends of enemies, and crushing his opponents with his hammer. Big and brutal, charismatic and acrobatic, Robert Stagg is the model career, model eldest son.

It is not enough.

Since the death of his father, Robb has been the executor of his family's estate. He has always known how to win friends and influence people, but with an increased awareness of his position in high society, Robert has been forced to play politics. He fucking hates it.

Leadership has always fallen to the charismatic Stagg brother — less because he's wanted the responsibility; more because this is what people expect of him. The only power he desires is the ability to heft his hammer hard enough to shatter sternums, to split skulls — but he likes being looked to all the same.

He doesn't want to rule. He just wants to be loved.

So Robert finds himself in shameful company: the false words of flatterers sound so sincere at the bottom of a flagon, and who could pass up the praise and admiration he'd never heard from his late father, from his brothers?

Loved or no, admired or no, Robert knows one thing for certain: his rage is a stubborn, fierce thing, and nobody in all of Panem can match him in single combat. He may prefer to be a lover than a fighter, but once blood starts flowing, one thing is for certain:
