The Trevelyans are a small but very wealthy family in District One, and although they have been lethal careers for generations now, ever since the program was introduced, they have never had a tribute grace the silver screen.

Lyanna is going to be the first. She swears it. Her whole life, she has worked towards the title, the crown, waiting until the perfect year to volunteer. Over the years, she has perfected her craft, her arrows hardly ever missing their target now.

Despite her experience, she does not know what it means to kill. She has never thought that taking a life could destroy her. She always wonders why so many Victors are depressed and turn to alcohol — surely if she won, she would be so bathed in riches and glory that she wouldn't have a care in the world.

She has never wondered if killing could destroy her, like it has the other Victors. Lyanna is, despite her ambition, determination, and great hubris, not a brutal soul. She lacks the vicious nature of a Career, but fits the profile perfectly otherwise.

She could never be one of them, one of the tributes who laughs after they take a life. Lyanna has never been cruel. Outside of training, she can be gentle, kind even, to those she loves. She has seen the Games mold good people into monsters, but her feelings are so tainted by lies about the Hunger Games that she doesn't recognize it.

Maybe someday, she will.
