He had accepted his life. A life where his father drank himself to death, a life where all that mattered was breaking promises and getting high. His family had vanished. His mother and twin killed by his own stupidity, yet Krypt found himself lingering in the darkest of allies in the district square. He promised his mother he'd clean up his life, that he would take care of his father, but none of that happened. He tried, and he tried again, and he wanted to keep his father proud. Night after night he cleaned him up, he changed his clothes, bathed him, but every single day Krypt watch the man he loved venture into the darkness only to return home drunk once more.
The moon was high in the sky, hidden beneath the stars twinkling high in the sky. Rats scurried through the alley, trashcans turned over with a heavy gust of wind. In one hand, he held a bottle, and in the other was a smoke he picked up along the way. It never ceased to amaze the costs of things. Who was he kidding? He was poor, he had no money. His father wasted every penny he made by supplying an addiction Krypt never understood, but now he does.
He leaned against the door, pressing his foot against the wall. He worked for a living during the day, and at night he drank. Maybe one day he'd realize this life wasn't for him, but that was probably a future filled with more broken promises. And that wasn't the life for him.
