I was still fixing my hair when mother popped her head into the room, "Have a good day!" she'd say in her cheery, wind-pipe like voice. It was like mother thought I was going to do anything today ; which, she likely doesn't. "You too!" I'd reply, my sweet tone not giving way. It sucks. I'm stuck in this house waiting for someone as night and day passes, because it's almost near impossible to leave in the first place. But that's okay. I like being here, it makes me feel safe. Home is the one place you want to stay at - it's the one place you've grown to know as your safe haven.

I also hate being here. It's hard for me to not want to explore.

It's one of those battles in my head where I'm like "I like the idea of home;

but I absolutely fucking despise the idea of being there."

That's kind of how I felt today. Tying my hair up, listening to the shuffling footsteps of my mother and father heading towards the door, I began to move towards the window on my wall. I slowly pushed it open in an attempt to not make a sound. As, for this world, there's nothing in their eyes that they'd want more than to keep us safe from that outside world. If they heard me opening it they'd get suspicious.

Nobody likes suspicion these days. It leads to nothing good.

"See you later!" My parents called out, stepping out of the door to close it with a loud echoing thud.

I was already out the window by the time they hit the sidewalk.
