Castle Ruined

At age nineteen, Castle Ruined was a rather young mayoral candidate. Regardless, she was happy to have the opportunity to run. She didn't however, seem to have much approval with the pubic, and she assumed that it was because of either her age, or her family relations. It seemed like quite a few people thought she was using her family name to gain attention, which was not what she was trying to do. When Cas got up that morning, though, she decided that she should do whatever she could to try to build her campaign up better.

Dressing nicely, as she always did, Miss Ruined wanted to be sure that she tried her best to impress everyone that she saw that day, and every other day of her life, too, for that matter, whether or not she was running for mayor when they saw her. It was just something she did. She liked to respect people and earn their respect in return. As she headed down the street, she came across someone that stood out to her, for some odd reason. Approaching them, she decided to try her luck.

"Hello! Can I speak to you for a short moment?" she asked.

Itzal Usoa

It’s a hot summer heat we have this morning. Ma yells because she thinks I’m lazy for someone turned sixteen, but my sister reminds her that I’ve always been slow to rise (slow to everything, really). I like to take my time, to figure it all out. Better to really get a good look at everything that’s in front of you than rushing off and splitting for a decision. That way I can settle on what I really want, not just something that’s spur of the moment. Of course, she still drags the sheets off of my bed and forces me to scrub myself clean for the day, but not without my usual stalling.

I don’t mind the weather, even if I know by midafternoon I’ll be dripping wet. I’m just pleased to see the world aglow in sun; the winter days seem to drag on with skies of gray and white. Now that the games are over, too, seems folks have more on their minds. There’s buzz of some sort of election (people asked me to endorse and so I did, and why, though I never thought my approval had much weight). The election doesn’t seem important to me, considering I never even knew who our old mayor was. I don’t even know if I’ll rightly vote, to be honest.

Hello! Can I speak to you for a short moment?

She’s a pretty thing, and I smile back. “It depends, what can I help you with?” I’m on my way to the market, but I half don’t expect to get what I need. It would be nice to stay and chat. “Itzal Usoa.”

Castle Ruined

The young woman was glad to be acknowledged when she spoke to the boy she'd approached. Many people she'd tried talking to just brushed her off, ignoring the young politician. This boy, however, even bothered to introduce himself at the end of what he said, which was nice. Castle had never heard his name before, but it was still nice of him to say something. He also delivered a nice smile, which made him appear quite friendly.

“It depends, what can I help you with?” he asked. He also introduced himself, shortly after. “Itzal Usoa,” he had said.

"I'm Castle Ruined, and I'm running for mayor of District Five," she explained. "I was just wondering if you have any particular policies that you feel are important within the election, as I'd like to explain my view on any of those a bit more."

She hoped that the boy would help her out, as she didn't want to make herself look like a fool any more than she already had when she found out that didn't gain the public's general approval. Now that had been embarrassing. Luckily, she still had her chance to try to win some votes, and that's exactly what she would try to do.

Castle Ruined.

I know right away who she is then, and I can’t help but feel a twinge of empathy for her. There have been two that have come and gone with the same name. Must be hard to go on so shortly after losing someone like Lorenzo. All of us had hoped for another of our district to come home from the Quell, but in truth we didn’t have much hope. Lorenzo died early, and Fallon—she was just too strange to see her making it to the end. Then when she went up against the girl from eleven, I had the feeling it was bad news. Elevens seemed to want to go on living a lot more than some of the other districts.

“Oh—well, I don’t know if I’m given it much thought.” He was just of age to vote, he supposed, and there was nothing really he got worked up over. Well, almost nothing. “I guess I would want better safety regulations for people who are working on the oil rigs. There are a lot of folks that get hurt or even killed working on them. And I know I’ll probably wind up working on one too soon enough.”

His father had been on one and disappeared—rather, gone missing, presumed dead. They would never verify if it had been an accident, or if he’d run off. But with the number of folks that disappeared from time to time, he had to think it was the capitol at fault. “Not quite sure how you would get them to change that, thought.”
