Atticus Lombrary

Atticus had been tirelessly campaigning for weeks, day in and out without little rest. He was pretty certain that if he worked hard enough, he was in with a shot of winning the title of Mayor and giving his home District a better chance of life; though that was only part of the reason he found himself going door to door today when he should have been planning to possibly go back to work.

His daughter was the true core of his plan to run as mayor and not just Freya. He was doing it for Alikia and Gabrielle too- even though they were both gone and both were buried across the District from one another. He just wanted to make life better, and show to all three of his girls thats exactly what he could do.

Walking up to the next door, flyers in hand, he knocked somewhat hesitantly. The morning was going well but there had been a few people who were less than happy to see him on their doorstep- he could only hope that this was not another who would try throw their chamberpot contents at him.

The door opened, and he looked down to see a young child peering out from behind the door. "Hello," Atticus beamed as friendly as he could, kneeling down slightly so that he was at eyelevel with the child. "Are your parents home?"

Poppy Greenslade

I had always told my children, ever since their father left, that when someone was at the door, they are not to answer it, for the risk of it being someone who could hurt them. Terra, however, hated to listen to my rules, and when someone knocked, she answered it, despite my warnings. It didn't take long after the opening of the door and Terra's voice speaking that I immediately got frustrated. She never listened when I told her to!

"My dad's a criminal. He's not here. I'll get my mother for you," the fifteen year old girl said in a dull tone.

"Terra! What do you think you're doing?" I immediately shouted to my daughter from the other room before rushing over to the door and stepping in front of her. Arms crossed, I looked sternly at the man. Terra immediately ran off to her room so as to avoid getting in trouble, and I spoke to our uninvited visitor.

"What gives you the bright idea to speak to my daughter? I don't know who you are, and neither does she. You weren't invited," I told him. I had to prevent myself from using any expletives toward him, which I will admit, was rather challenging. I raised an eyebrow at him, my arms still crossed, and waited for his answer. I didn't know who he was, but that didn't matter. He could be a Peacekeeper for all I cared, and I'd treat him the same. Harrison had hurt our family enough emotionally, and I wasn't going to let a stranger do that or worse.

Atticus Lombrary

The girl answered so bluntly that Atticus nearly fell off the step. It was not the answer he had been expecting, specially from someone so young but he was not surprised. Children and Teenagers often answered with the blunt reality rather than sugar coating the truth. "Alright." he said, mustering a smile as a second figure suddenly appeared at the door.

Straightening himself, he could not help but frown as the woman stepped before her daughter, arms crossed in a form of defence. From behind, Atticus could see the girl Terra running back into the house and out of view. Turning his attention back to the woman, he let her berate him with her anger, reacting badly would only make things worse.

"I'm sorry m'am." He nodded softly "I didn't mean to cause trouble, I was just looking for you. My name is Atticus," he reached into his coat pocket, bringing out a slightly crumble campaign poster. and extending it towards her "I am just doing some campaigning, going round and talking to people in the community. I'm running for Mayor see..."

Poppy Greenslade

The man apologized to me, although, in all honesty, I didn't want to listen to what he had to say. He was being polite, however, which did at least warrant him a bit of my listening time. My arms remained crossed until he explained why he was there, and handed me a flier. Looking down at it, I didn't do too much reading of what it had to say, before looking back up at the man. I tried my best to be friendly, realizing I must have come off as extremely rude.

"Sorry, I'm just very protective of my children. Their father wasn't the best influence, and I'm always worried that something will happen to them," I explained. "If you're running for mayor, however, I suppose I can assume you're a decent person, or at least hope that you are." I knew it was likely I was still coming off as rude, but I almost always did without trying to. Sometimes, that had a negative effect on my social interactions. I just hoped this man wouldn't be rude to me in return.

Most people may welcome someone into their home when they arrived at their door. Being the protective mother I am, however, I instead stepped outside with him, shutting the door behind me so that I could converse with him more directly. I gave a slight smile, trying to be polite and make up for what Terra and I had each said. Perhaps the man had something important to say. It may have been worth listening.

"So, what policies do you have going for you?" I inquired.
