Ollivander Nixton D3 [FIN]

Money couldn't fix everything.

It was as simple as that. It couldn't fix the way that the servants had to basically raise him while his father did nothing for him. They were nothing more than prizes he could show off like a collection to the rich folk of District Three. There's no true feelings behind his father's eyes, but only the cold that calculates which kid to show off when. Diamond always seemed to be the favorite of them all and as much as he hated thinking it, it's what he preferred.

He hated the attention of all eyes on him. It was the cost of wealth in District Three. People watched them with cautious eyes and fake smiles as they would go anywhere. The only times he could ever escape were the times that he had gotten brave enough to sneak away from the grounds. If father had found out, he would have been dead. It only increased his want to explore the world outside of their palace of wealth. That's where he found himself that evening while all the Nixton's slept, Ollie would leave his room and head towards the darkest end of the grounds.

Blue eyes that gleam in the dark watching every step he takes. Leaves crunch softly enough against his feet that no one will hear, but it doesn't stop him from flinching every time it does crunch. Dirty blonde hair is a bit of a mess as he pushes a few strands away from his forehead. Thin eyebrows shrink down as he gives a confused look around the area as it was emptier than usual. Pink lips turn upwards in a smile as he can see the edge where he can walk away and see the rest of the district like he enjoyed doing.

Mothers and fathers tucking their children into bed. The community going quiet as the night grows dark. It's when he feels the most alive. In the dark, where no one knew who he was. He was almost out of sight, until there's a quiet cry from somewhere nearby. He jumps in fright and almost dares to run into the foliage that is not too far away. That's until he can recognize who the voice is.

"Ollie! Over here!"

It's one of the servants, who must have seen him leaving the house. They have to run to him to catch up, but he gives a sigh of annoyance to the air. He's been caught red handed. The servant angrily looks at Ollie with eyes that are cold. If looks could kill, Ollie would be dead, though the positive if they could. His father would be dead and everyone wished that would happen. The servant speaks up with cold selfish words to save their own skin.

"I could get fired if your father finds out about this."

His blues eyes roll upwards as he looks past the servant to the palace that he lives in. It wasn't a prison, they had everything that they could ever want, except for a happy normal life. Ollie wasn't into much like his sister, Diamond. Her art was wickedly beautiful, but he never saw the appeal. He still doesn't see the appeal to it. Instead, he enjoyed the outdoors more than anyone. The gardens were more of his joy. Fresh air that'd fill his lungs with the morning air of the day. He speaks to the servant with sharp words.

"Like I care what happens to you? I was going to be back before my father wakes."

The servant doesn't accept it as he grabs Ollie's arm, which was not the right thing to do. He follows though with no words, only glares upon his face as he makes it back to his room. They stand there for a moment as the air fills with an awkward silence. Ollie turns, opening the door, and hiding away in his room for the rest of the evening. Instead of sleeping, he pulls out a book to read for hours into the night.

Mornings were always his favorite time of the day, but not that day. His siblings and half-siblings were never interesting enough for him to really engage in a good relationship. They always were off doing their own thing while he did his own thing. When he was younger, he used to play with them, but as time grew longer and he grew older. He preferred the company of a book outside in the gardens and when it was too wet or cold out to do that, he hid inside, exploring for small places to hide into with his books.

Unlike every other morning, he was sent to go do something else. Instead of putting his smaller frame into a corner of some room with a book, he's at a breakfast function with other wealthy people. They chat with fake smiles and words trying to one up one another. He's just picking at the food in front of him as he watches his father move around like a machine around them all. His blue eyes leave his father as they settle onto his siblings who were around, except Prism.

He was buried somewhere in District Three, resting peacefully. Ollie never got to truly know him like the other siblings that he had. All he could remember about Prism was how he seemed to be father's favorite before Diamond had been, but that all changed when he died. They don't speak of him much now. Ollie made sure to stay away from Prism once they had gotten older. He still remembers the time they did spend together though. Kids playing inside the palace of wealth, running around like heathens, until their giggling would stop.

Diamond was in a dress as she walked around greeting some people like she usually did. She's always been the pretty girl at their events, as he could see too many of the males watching her. There's always a moment when he rolls his eyes at her, but right now he just sits there watching her with a small smile upon his face. She just moves along the row and give him a smile before moving on to someone else. He lets out a small chuckle while his father's back is turned.

Then he glances to Pellin, who looked like the pretty boy that their sisters had made him is polite. He's always got a look on his face that makes Ollie just want to be nice to him. It was infectious in every way possible. Ollie just watches him calmly as he decides to finally go the other way and into the house. No one would notice, except the servants. Even if the servants saw him, they wouldn't give him a second glance. He walks up to his room where he grabs the book that he had been reading before, glancing at the cover, he smiles.

They were treated well by their father, but Ollie had seen his true colors multiple times. They all had some sort of mistake that their father didn't like. Diamond was blamed for her mother's death. Prism was a disgrace. Pellin didn't follow all of his father's rules. There's so much more that he could have guessed about them that their father disapproved of, but he wasn't sure of it. He knew why his father didn't like Ollie. He was too much of a wild spirit. Unpredictable in everything he does. Quick and sharp words from the intellect that he carried. Uncontrollable and unable to follow his father's rules.

Wealth couldn't fix any of that.

Instead, his father feed him books of all sorts that he would spend most of his time reading. Knowledge that he absorbed in his free time that just filled his brain. Sometimes useless, but he's discovered it has come in handy a few times. A smile pulls at his lips as he moves over a railing, feet dangling down while he was secure against a bar. The book opens and his eyes scan it.

That's where he would be for the next couple of hours.

Wealth couldn't buy everything, but he learned to find happiness in what he could, when their world was surrounded by corruption and fraud.

It was all he could do.

Fantasies were better than focusing on the reality.
