you are so wonderful and yet
you are wasted like a
snowflake falling
into the ocean

and nowadays
i am nothing but the face
that you avoid down empty corridors
in our hate we are negatively charged atoms

i have given up trying to understand
what it is that my life means
instead i simply try
to keep going

in hope
that one day
i can find it easy
like everyone else does

because no matter how complex
that i tell myself i am
i'm really just
ordinary

i am the remnants
of something magnificent
that has fallen like icarus fell
beneath the sun's unforgiving rays

and so i lay here in the dark at the
bottom of some forsaken pit
wondering if i'll climb
back to the light

we are the microorganisms
clinging to discarded petri dishes
unaware that our god has abandoned us
