Life is a balancing act.

Between right and wrong.

Good and evil.

Life and death.

My parents must not have been very good at balancing death, because they died when I was young. People would tell me that they were actually alive, that they just left me because I was strange, because I was different. But in my mind I like to believe that they were good people.

I just hope I never have to find out the truth.

I was walking through an alley when the poster flew by. A circus act, one that I could actually afford to go see. I scraped up my last few coins and went. I was left in awe by the colors and the talents, and for once I thought of the word special, not strange.

Desperate to be like them I snuck into one of their tents, put on the vibrant colored costume and began doing what i can do, my mind took me to center stage, the spotlight on me, people cheering for my talents. I saw him out of the corner of my eye, watching me. I could have sworn he was going to call the peacekeepers, get me arrested. But instead he praised me asked me to join them. Told me that with a little training I could be amazing. My eyes lit up.

Anything had to be better than the life I lived now. 

That was eight long years ago, and here I still am. But now there's whispers of my parents. Of where they may might be, that's if they're even alive. Part of me wants to find them. Part of me wants to hide from the truth.

Now I'm walking on a thin line.

Good thing I learned how to balance pretty well.
