Jacinta Salazar had won the Seventy-Seventh Annual Hunger Games. Not Ella Tracy. My daughter died fighting, taking a blade into her eye. It wasn't in vain, though. No, her allies kept fighting for her even after her death, determined to get revenge for it. One of the members of the alliance that killed Ella fell that same day. Although, it still didn't make the pain of her death any less.

Ella's death truly hurt me. She was my only daughter. My only child. I loved her dearly, and I still do. I'll never stop missing her. Unfortunately, she'll never come home breathing again. Jacinta Salazar was skillful enough to win, or perhaps just lucky enough. I was distraught that it wasn't Ella who won, but at the same time, I was glad it wasn't her killer. Jacinta had even tried to kill Ella's killer at one point. Josephine Emerson didn't fall to Jacinta's blade, but she came close to it.

The victory tour would be passing through District Five today, and that was my opportunity to talk to Miss Salazar. When I saw her, I realized how stunning she looked. She was even more beautiful of a young lady than I had thought. Then again, it was likely that the Capitol had glammed her up for the tour. I decided that I needed to approach her, so I did just that when I got the opportunity.

"Jacinta? I'm Helena Tracy. Ella Tracy's mother."
