It's difficult, growing up different. So many questions - What's it like being colorblind? - that I don't know how to answer, so many people curious as to what they don't understand but lacking the tact to try and see things from my point of view-

The local doctor says it's unfixible, a genetic disorder that can only be corrected by the most advanced of Capitol technology. But I don't mind, even if I do wonder what blue and green and red and purple all look like. It's only ever been shades for me.
Black, white, shades of gray - that's my world.

But that's my lot in life. Shades of gray matter little when you only see darkness through your days, hack away in the mines for a living. My siblings have lives ahead of them, however -
one is already showing an interest in medicine and the other is so charismatic already that she might yet become our mayor in ten years or so.

I work the mines so they won't have to. And I don't mind.
