You don't always get what you want, life's hard. Pretty easy lesson right? Well it's actually kind of a tough pill to swallow when its the first thing you learn. I'm the son of beggars. My Dad got laid off of work because of his drug addiction and my Mom is too busy having affairs to work. Literally from the age I could comprehend things I was dressed in rotting rags for clothing and sent around begging for spare change. I never got a gift, never had a birthday, never even had a friend. What I did have though was constant hunger alleviated by disgusting, nearly rotting, food which would make me sick. Also imagine my enjoyment for a month when the shirt I wore because it was all I had smelt like sewer and vomit. Yeah, you don't always get what you want. Yeah, life's hard. No shit.

Now school, that was fun. In classes no one sat near me because of the smell of death which poured out from my pores. During breaks no one would talk to me but instead throw trash at me making jokes about how they were throwing it away with the rest of the garbage. The teachers would try to make them stop, but quite frankly the teachers didn't like me either. My usual hunger and my short attention for the pointless crap they taught didn't make me the best student. Sure they tried to help. Sure they gave me extra food during school and for after. Sure that food was probably the only reason I stayed barely fed even though my parents would often eat half of my after school snacks. But personally I think school is a luxury that people who don't have to spend their entire time thinking about where they are going to sleep can enjoy. For those of us who's thoughts are constantly occupied by simply surviving, not for us.

Okay yes, I was picked up off the street and sent to orphanages many times. It wasn't some blessing considering our system was and is shit. Yes the places had broken beds for most of their kids, sometimes running water, and normally bland food. I could have stayed in the first one. I could have stayed in the second, or the third, or the tenth. But I ran away every time back to the slums of the streets with my jackass parents because it was where I knew not just how to survive, but thrive. I was a child of the streets, born and raised. If there was anyone made for making such a lifestyle work it was me. So I did, I made it work.

By the age of fourteen I was pretty done with the beggars' way. I was tired of standing or sitting at the three same damn spots day in and day out hoping for some generous soul to spare a penny. By then I already knew the world was crap along with the people populating it. Everyone had their own problems to deal with and not enough cash to even spare change. But I wanted things, I had always wanted things. Not because my parents told me no, but because I never owned a thing in my life aside from the poor excuse for clothes I wore on my back. I realized there had to be a way to finally start getting things I wanted in life. I was done waiting for life to do me a favor. Remember life sucks after all.

Naturally as most kids raised on the streets do, I started stealing. I wasn't just some petty theft either. I got all kinds of mixed up in the wrong groups who loose members every month to the Peace Keepers. But it had the highest payout, so I didn't care as long as I was getting what I wanted. I would break into rich mansions. I would break into important factories. I would even break into the camps of other dangerous groups all so my hands could retrieve some kind of precious object for pay. There was even a time I had to spend most of a week hiding in the sewer systems because the Peace Keepers had caught a glimpse of my face during a robbery. Luckily I know the sewer systems by heart, and luckily no one was able to ID me.

I stayed working with those groups until they would finally want to fully initiate me as a member. I wasn't about the crime life, I wanted no real part of it. It paid so I did the dirty dangerous jobs. When a group wanted me fully I would back off and find another. I wasn't the strings attached kind of person. I guess that went with relationships too considering I never kept a permanent one for more than a month. Too much commitment and constant worry about what I do. But I'm thankful because by the time I was seventeen turning eighteen, I knew an entirely better way to continue to acquire the things I desire.

Now we're all caught up. Now a days I have clothes, lots of clothes, even some pretty nice clothes. My hair is trimmed and styled instead of mangy and matted. Even my scarred skin is soft and smells of lilac. As an eighteen year old boy I live alone is a small apartment. Its cheap and takes ten candles lit at the same time just to burn away the smell of decay, but it's mine. From a boy who had nothing but rags I made a life I wanted for myself. I'm not even ashamed of the way I earn money, although many scorn me. My Mom has been having affairs since before I was out of her womb, is it really that hard to believe I would somewhat follow her lead? Look, I'm not in a relationship so I'm not cheating. But yes, I get paid to entertain people.

So what? Like you can judge me, as if. I have no shame. Since I was a young teenager I knew I was attractive, I'm a good looking guy. Just because life slammed a door on my face doesn't mean my genetics did, so I use them to my advantage. Doesn't matter gender, age, or anything, if they can afford the price tag and pay in cash then everything is good to go. It's my job, it lets me live the life I was never going to have being born to a drug addict and some sex driven woman. I'm happy, and I enjoy myself. Its also become much nicer since as my reputation has grown, my selectivity and price has increased as well. I finally have control of life and not the other way around.

Some people ask me how I wake up and look at myself in a mirror knowing what I do. I tell them all the same thing. First of all, why do you give a shit?"And then also, I tell them that I see a young man with clear tan skin, warm brown eyes, brown hair cleanly styled, and a body wrapped in muscle. I see that young man instead of a young boy bony from lack of food, dead dull brown eyes, matted unwashed black-brown hair, and skin spotted with fresh cuts and bruises. I didn't choose for life to be a complete wreck, but I made my wreck into a ship that I can captain. I'm more than just a beggar's son. I rose beautifully from the ashes of my making.
