Sunlight. It's a beautiful thing, crafted by blue skies and fluffy clouds. Sometimes, even you needs to walk down the street and absorb the light. It's a hot day, heat pounding up against your skin, creating beads of sweat the carefully roll down the sides of your face. It's not a cause for celebration, but you don't smoke the entire walk down to the shops. Mother used to walk you down these streets, she lifted you in her arms to see the leather clothes encased in glass windows.
It's hard to think of mother like that nowadays, her infamy is built upon misfortune of others and lies. You don't know if she actually ever loved you, maybe the visits to the district were forced. You don't try and dwell on these thoughts as they brought you more pain than joy, more fear than carelessness. And you don't do well without those qualities.
But you couldn't help smushing your face up against a window and staring at the beautifully woven dresses. When you were a child you'd kill to have a dress like the one before you, but now beautiful things sound like you give in to the life your parents have given to you. That's a life of no love but you get what you want.
Now without it, you'd kill to have someone love you.
