Typhoon

A gentle breeze blew through the open window, and Typhoon found herself seated in on her bed watching the sun slowly crawl above the horizon. So long ago the sun didn't offer promises of a new tomorrow, but today it all changed. Many times she made the journey from her home to the overfilled orphanage on the corner of the street. Each time the fragile faces entered her mind, a heavy heart shattered. Losing her parents during the tsunami was hard enough, but these kids grew up with nobody to love and care for them, and today, Typhoon was going to make a difference. The paperwork was started several weeks ago, yet keeping it a secret from the rest of the family was difficult because she wanted to tell the more than anything in the world. Sometimes a surprise was even better.

A chill ran up her spine as bare feet planted against the cold floor. Summer was drifting away, and the breeze coming from the ocean was growing cooler with each passing day, but today none of that mattered.

Wrinkled clothes sat beside her bed, and it didn't take long to change from her pajamas into something better. Making a first impression was huge, however, Typhoon wasn't worried. The workers saw her, they knew her, and now was her chance to prove that she was someone that kept her word. Working all the extra hours to bring in a little more money was starting to pay off, but money can't buy love. Some children didn't have it, and hopefully the young boy she had her eye on for so long was still there. He reminded her of herself when she was his age. A three year old with no cares in the world, yet he yearned for a family, and Typhoon was the one to answer the call.

The corners of her lips slowly spread from ear to ear pulling chapped lips apart. Pain was temporary because the pure joy lingered inside. Right now everyone was still asleep, and soon the house would have another body roaming the halls. Just like the O'Hana family took her in, Typhoon wanted to take in one of her own. Give someone a chance to live a halfway decent life before the Capitol completely snatched it away.

Sometimes making a difference was huge, and since she never wanted to birth a child, this was her way of giving back.

Outstretched arms tore through the cabinets searching for a bite to eat. Cooking wasn't on her mind right now because it was still so early in the morning, yet she found a couple apples lingering behind. Hopefully nobody would care that she took them. The only thing that could go wrong was having a stomach roaring for something to eat as she was finalizing all the papers.

Yet she didn't want to go alone.

Someone needed to celebrate this joyous moment with her, and whoever walked into the kitchen first was the lucky sibling.

Carefully moving things around, she grabbed a glass of water, but the cup slid from her hand landing against the ground. Shards flew in every direction, and all Typhoon hoped for was that everyone didn't wake up. A heavy sigh left her chest as she reached for the broom to sweep up the pieces. It was still so early, and the sun hadn't fully said good morning.

A frantic heart clawed at her chest. Each breath caught in the back of her throat. For a moment it all was quiet. Nothing was moving around, and her eyes were wide until a sigh of relief slipped from her chest.

But celebrations were cut short as a floorboard creaked.

Leaving everything behind, Typhoon darted towards the table where the papers were lying. Hiding them was important because she wanted to keep this a surprise. A lump formed in the back of her throat as she ran through the kitchen throwing the papers in a bag she planned on taking with her.

Then she sat down at the table pretending like nothing was wrong, and hopefully whoever walked through the doors wouldn't ask many questions.

Lamentations of the heart never hurt so bad

Nothing makes sense to the lost twin. Her eyes seem to pass over every set of eyes, unwillingly able to look into the iris's that seek her guidance. Blizzy and Typhoon know the pain she is in, but leave it alone after so many years. With time, nothing helps as the hurt and the ache still dwell within her heart, wretching it on evenings when the anniversaries of their death play on repeat. When she wakes up after having a nightmare or after the sun emerges through her window - Chaos'. An empty shell is left within her heart but she keeps moving and going. Life ceases to stop in front of her but adapting was always her best quality.

"Chaos? Please! Answer me. I know you come to visit me all the time. I know that you never meant to go with our brother to protect him. I know you regret it everyday. Just say you were stupid - say that I didn't mean less than him since you ran after him. I am your twin - or was I born in his place?" Hands wrap around the corners of walls, begging to find her sister. She just needed to get a glimpse of the one that she cuddled against in the womb. The one who knew her better than herself, yet with every turn of every white cornered wall, emptiness greeted her.

Tears welled up in her eyes. She reached out to touch a faint representation of what she remembered was family, both Chaos and Lightning, and yet in a flash -

Gone!
The waking world came crashing down in a sudden jolt. The noise, she wondered with furrowed brows and heavy yawns, was just part of the dream she thought with the expressions in total. Heavy eyes kept her at bay with the dream, slipping in and out of consciousness until she realized that the noise was real and that no dream would cause such a ruckus.

Groans of morning stiffness alliviate itself with a simple stretch. Extensions of her muscles pull against her unusual position and she stands so easily with only a small stumble. A bladder too full from a night of drinking draws her to the bathroom where she attends to that need. A few moments later, she exits and walks into the kitchen to see her sister.

"Oh? Good Morning Ty." Words escape the long winded conversation so early in the morning. She stands there, staring at them for a moment adjusting to the light that berates her vision. "What time is it? I think I heard something." She whispers out and glances to the window. Darkness still blankets the world and she turns to the clock.

She yawns.

"Tempest never gets up this early. Why is Tempest up?" She grins, referring to herself in an unusual manner. Sitting down, she draws her arms up to her chin, resting her head. "Why are you up so early?" She moves her feet outward, sliding them against the floor. A prick of something sharp embedding itself within her skin, igniting a wakefullness she wasn't ready for.

"Ow!" Jolted, she moves only a tad bit faster, barely a notch above what she walked in with. Her leg drawing up to cross over her knee to inspect the sudden prick of a glass splinter. Nails find the end peice, drawing it out. "Did you break something?"

Typhoon

Footsteps echo through the hall coming closer and closer to the kitchen with each passing second. She woke someone up, and the idea of facing them is terrifying. Nobody's happen when they first wake up especially to a mess lying in the floor. Typhoon frantically moves around trying her best to fix the mess she made. Mornings aren't something she enjoys, but today is different, and she can't help the smile from growing larger. Her heart races away leaving her body behind. Each breath catches in the back of her throat. This is something she has to do. Something she yearns for. People are in need, and she's there to help.

That's been her life for as long as she can remember, and now that it's all coming together. A purpose that was lost when Chaos and Lightning fell has come together giving her a reason to live. Death haunts her, threatening to steal her peace, but Typhoon knows different.

Tempest makes her way into the kitchen.

Apparently she wasn't expecting someone to be sitting there.

"Good morning, Tempest." Her words are quiet, yet she can't hide the giddiness lingering within. It's lurking within the depths of her soul while searching for a way out. "It's pretty early. Probably about five?" The simple solution is to look at the clock hanging on the wall, but with the lights out, and the moon still lighting the way, Typhoon doesn't feel like squinting.

She watches as Tempest moves further into the kitchen mumbling something about never being awake that early.

"Why are you up so early?"

A frozen heart crashes into the ground. A lump its in the back of her throat. Every hair stands on end, but before she has a chance to answer, Tempest steps forward where the glass shattered.

She can't even tell her to stop because the words exit her lips -

"Did you break something?"

The obvious answer is yes, but Typhoon finds herself shifting her weight from one foot to the other unsure of what to say.

"Just a glass." Her voice is quiet because she doesn't want to wake up the others. She doesn't feel like explaining what's going on, and Tempest is the best person to explain it to. "I'm just going out this morning. Got a few things planned." The smile grows even larger as she thinks about signing the papers making the adoption official.

She pauses collecting her thoughts. Wording is everything, and Typhoon isn't the best at saying what she's thinking.

"I was wondering if you'd like to come with me?" Her gaze shifts from the table to Tempest. "I could always use some company." Her plans remain a secret because nobody needs to know until everything is one hundred percent official.
