An unlikely role, even the saying his new title aloud brings tears of amusement. Gamemaker Josiah Layton. Seriously, what world is he currently living in right now? There is a mix of joy and utter fright inside Josie right now. A new-found fame but one wrong move could seriously be the end of him. He is a reckless piece on a delicate game, he will just need to learn to not be so heavy footed with every step he takes.
Days since the announcement to the public have been the most restless, he has ever experience. Interview after interview, photoshoots and being stopped in the street. There really has been no time for rest, not until today anyway. The annual Ratmas ball, hosted by President Snow himself. Perfectly executed so that the trio of gamemakers can be introduced. He knows the name of one, an already recognisable gamemaker and the other an unknown, information about her has been scarce. He just begs the pair of them are competent enough the take the reins when they slip from his fingers. Oh boy, they better be fun too!
Josiah is already a regular attender of the Capitol Ratmas ball, but this is the first year where he has been an honoured guest. Out goes the corny ratmas themed attire, this is serious business after all. A fitted grey three-piece suit with black lining, except the grey is sprinkled with glitter adding a bit of sparkle to his outfit. Matching sparkly grey shoes finish off the piece, there are impressions to be made after all.
His sister passed on being his plus one tonight and so the companion he pulled in the bar last week accompanies him, this one has been his longest in a while, he for sure made time to keep up with his hobbies in-between all the pre-pre-games PR. Well, they’ll look good at his arm stepping into the venue tonight, but he doubts he will be walking out with them.
An hour in and the guest count has risen considerably, despite his lack of most human dignities, being late to exquisite things that are important to him are not one of those things, so he has spent most of the early evening examining those that have filtered through the doors. No sign of the president yet but he has identified both of his colleagues, nobody has been so kind to even introduce them. Well if the job needs to be done. ”You just wait there dear, help yourself to some of the canopies. Mingle.” He says to the companion, quickly ditching them by the buffet.
Josie marches up to the unknown female, Beatrix. Smiles are quickly delivered, and he tears her away from those that surround her, gently by her forearm he guides them to their other future colleague, Zaya the veteran who is conveniently at the other side of the room.
”I thought I’d do the job of introducing ourselves, seeing as nobody else has been so kind to do so.” Josie flags a waiter with a tray of bubbles, handing out glasses to the others. ”Josie but for formalities it is Josiah Layton. I have heard a lot about you Zaya.” He takes a sip from the glass, turning to the other. ”But not so much you.”
