LILIBETH LYON-JOHNWAYNE
Lilibeth Lyon-Johnwaynehad been watching Margaery Viperion for some time now. Of course, it was hard to miss Margaery, with cheekbones that could draw blood and an intelligent, withering gaze. But Lilibeth’s interest stemmed from more than the other girl’s lethal reputation.
It seemed they had a mutual interest in the Lyon lineage.
She bided her time, observing Margaery’s habits, her friendships, eavesdropping when she could. It seemed they had plenty in common, from a laser focus to a broad understanding of the Career dynamics in District Two.
Pitty she was going to have to knock Margaery down a peg or two.
It was nearly Ratmas and snow lay in a fine layer on the streets of the district center. Lilibeth had finished her shopping a week prior but couldn’t resist one more outing. Despite her own very sharp edges, she loved the holidays. It was so wonderful to indulge in something decadent, to pretend like everything worked the way it should, to actually enjoy the hassle and noise. She carried a hot coco between mittened hands, debating one last swoop through the book store, when she spotted Margaery on the street.
She’d had so many previous opportunities to introduce herself and hadn’t taken one of them. But today felt different. She waited for a carriage to pass, then darted through traffic to the other girl’s side.
Her voice came out a little reedy, breathless with anticipation. “Don’t you just hate this time of year? Everything’s such a hassle.” She smirked, briefly met Margaery’s gaze, and assured that she had her attention, pressed on. “I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced. I’m Lilibeth Lyon,” she said, and then under her breath added, “Johnwayne.”
