It was just your luck that in the great migration in the days leading up to the Dark Days that your ancestors took root here from a place far more glorious and, well, sanitary, to make their fortune in black gold - coal mines.

And for all the good that's done them throughout the years. They're dead, their children, my parents, are either dead (in my father's case) or dying (in my mother's), and soon all that will be left of the Dyer name will be me. As if I ever wanted to inherit a dwindling fortune out in the middle of goddamn nowhere.
