walking in my sleep like the naked trees will they wake up again? do they sleep? do they dream?
It should have come as no surprise to him that the Gamemakers liked to indulge in a little chaos. It appears the ship had suffered damage or all of the airlocks had cycled open. In either case, the echoes of tributes running amuck reverberated, setting him permanently on edge. He checked the straps on his armor - twice - and then lifted his laser beam with one hand and his nightvision goggles with the other.
He slunk, each movement as stealthy as he could manage. But in the close quarters, it was often impossible to hide.
So when Ike popped out of a juncture, Elite yelped. Even as Ike made his plea, Elite lifted his weapon, trying to steady it as adrenaline coursed through.
And then he finally tuned in to what the other tribute was saying. “You want me to what? Oh. Oh that’s clever. You’re trying to build a robot army?”

"This is a gift from Elite Hops. Should we meet again. Don't forget it."
The recording had cut in and out. Elite had given him these gloves to meet him again. Don't forget it. Ike couldn't forget it. The messages on his watch from Elite had told him he would help with Emily. The damaged bot in his bag feels heavier as he thinks of how Emily sacrificed her life for his. A sigh from his throat as he gently rubs his hand along her frame.
The panel in the other room had been easy to mess with, the label of temperature control, had given away what it did. The cold was bothersome to him. Sure, he was warm, but he wanted it to be warmer here. The seventy one degrees seemed too low, so he cranks it up and leaves it where it had been. A shrug of his shoulders, until he saw the creepy note, and making his way to where he was now.
The air lock had led to somewhere beautiful. Plants grow from everywhere that his eyes can see. Trees, grain, spices, and all sorts of other plants grow with a thriving life to them that he's almost flabbergasted by the sight of them all. He doesn't even speak about it. A moment of watching in awe is all he needs before the sight of Elite Hops, trying to sneak his way around this forest of mesmerizing plants.
Elite Hopes, the guy who could fix Emily.
Ike jumps in front of Elite who holds his weapon threateningly, Ike speaks fast.
"ELITE! Please help me! Emily is broken and you said you could fix her! I would really like you to do that. I'll owe you one! Please. Please. Please. Please."
As soon as Elite begins to listen to Ike as he continues to mumble please, he speaks.
"You want me to what? Oh. Oh that’s clever. You’re trying to build a robot army?"
Emily is now held out for Elite to look at, she's got some mechanical aspects that have been moved around by the hit of the construction robot. Eyes stare at Emily before Ike speaks softly.
"N-No, I just want you to fix Emily, s-she sacrificed herself for me."

"You have feelings? For the robot?"
"She's my friend! She saved my life."
Ike watches carefully as Elite stares at the gloves on his hands.
A moment more.
"I guess not all the mutts have gone bad. I need time. Watch my back?"
A smile on his face as he watches the area around them. The gardens were beautiful and Ike wanted to see more, but he was on a mission. Save Emily. Emily was his friend. Emily would always be his friend. She had sacrificed herself for him more times than not. He owed this to her. He owed Elite big time for this. A silence washes over him before he speaks to Elite.
"Thanks for this and for the gloves, Elite. I really owe you, big time."
Silently, Ike watches the door and the plants around them for awhile as Elite works on Emily. The worry in his chest of if she could be fixed, he had faith in Elite. Despite everything, he had a feeling that he could trust Elite with this. Harper trusted him so he should trust him too.
